Breathable, responsive Bio-Pur® reacts quickly to your movements, preventing any “stuck” feeling. As a plant-based foam, Bio-Pur® off-gasses far less than traditional memory foam and responds to pressure in seconds. The HIVE® technology underneath supports you and evenly distributes your body weight, while the base layer of Bio-Core® deters sagging.
No need to compromise comfort or support.
We design each Amerisleep mattress with the best comfort and support for every sleeping position. The contouring Bio-Pur® foam helps stomach, back, and side sleepers get a good night’s sleep by cushioning the heavier parts of the body for maximized pressure relief. The underlying foam layers maintain unwavering support.
Who should get a twin XL size mattress?
If you’re over 6 feet tall, a twin XL size mattress provides the extra legroom.
Children
Children have an extra 5 inches of growing room on a twin XL size mattress. If you have two children sharing a room, consider a twin XL length bunk bed rather than the standard twin.
College Students
Most college dorm rooms have twin XL size mattresses to accommodate most body types. Students who want to bring their mattress should double-check with the school first.
Guests
Solo sleepers of all ages and heights can sleep comfortably on a twin XL size mattress, making them a perfect choice for small guest rooms.
How much should I expect to spend on a high-quality twin XL size mattress?
Having reasonable budget expectations makes mattress shopping a smoother, more pleasant experience. You can find twin XL size mattresses that cost around $2000, but these beds are often marked up for the appearance of luxury. At the other extreme, twin XL size mattresses that cost less than $300 aren’t likely to last you long.
A basic mattress with a support layer and a comfort layer is the least expensive option. As manufacturers add on features such as zoned support or white glove delivery, the price rises. Common extra features include:
Common mattress features increasing mattress cost
- Cooling features such as gel memory foam, copper-infused foam, and plant-based foam
- Specialty foams and technologies unique to a brand
- Edge support from inner steel coils and poly-foam around the perimeter
- Quilted pillow tops or Euro tops made with high-quality materials
- A warranty that covers more than the standard 10 years
- Plush, thick comfort foams (thicker layers require more materials, which increase production costs)
- Eco-friendly and hypoallergenic materials such as organic cotton, natural latex, and plant-based foams

Does a high-quality bed in a box really exist?
Bed in a box mattresses have become more popular as more people are taking advantage of beds in a box, which are shipped directly to the customer. Bed in a box mattresses allow mattress companies to bypass mattress store markups and offer more competitive prices for quality products. The mattress is compressed, rolled up, and shipped in a box to take up less space in a delivery truck.
Mattress companies use specialty machines to compress and roll up the mattress without compromising the bed’s structure and feel. Many companies recommend waiting about 24 hours before sleeping on your new mattress—trying it out immediately shouldn’t damage the mattress, however.

What sets Amerisleep’s mattresses apart
from
traditional memory foam beds?
Traditional memory foam softens with heat and pressure, which is why memory foam conforms to the body and relieves pressure points when you lie down on it. However, traditional memory foam tends to retain body heat, causing sleep disturbances.
Our high-density Bio-Pur® memory foam is not only more breathable than traditional memory foam, but it’s also more responsive as well, preventing you from ever feeling stuck in the foam. Lower quality memory foams can’t adapt quickly to your movements, which causes the “stuck” feeling.
Every mattress but our AS1 has an Affinity layer with HIVE® technology, between the Bio-Pur® comfort layer and the Bio-Core® base layer. We arranged the hexagonal cutouts in the Affinity layer for zoned support—the cutouts compress in the shoulders and hips areas for added softness, while the head, back, and feet areas remain firm.
Unique to the AS5 is the Active Flex layer, which gives the soft mattress extra support. If a soft foam is too thick, it takes more time to regain its shape. By adding the responsive Active Flex layer to the soft AS5, we prevent you from ever feeling stuck.
All of our mattresses have a base layer of Bio-Core® for longevity.
A soft, breathable cover encases each of our mattresses.
Our foams are certified non-toxic by CertiPUR-US®.

Firm and worth the price.
The mattress is firm enough to keep my lower back from hurting but soft enough for a good night’s rest.

Second to none.
I was anxious to buy this mattress at first. I'm very picky because of my back surgery and need a mattress that supports me well as a stomach sleeper. If you know what I'm saying, stomach sleeper for someone with spine surgery is a big no. But this mattress made it possible. After 9 years, I've got a restful sleep. Thank you Amerisleep.

I never write reviews but had to give credit where credit was due. I love the heck out of this mattress. I've always complained of back pain and a good mattress is imperative to me. This mattress was so dang easy to open, got it up my stairs without an issue, because it was still in the box. Opened it in the morning, slept on it that night. Unbelievably comfortable. Remarkable customer service. Prompt delivery. Totally recommend.

Reduced our back pain dramatically
I'm a stomach and back sleeper and my husband is a side sleeper. I love that this bed works for both of us and has dramatically reduced back pain for both of us. It used to take me 30 mins to get out of bed in the morning because my back hurt so much and I'm 31 years old !!!! Good riddance old mattress !!! I now pop up out of bed within 5 mins of waking and ready to start my day. I couldn't be more pleased with this company and our new bed.

The answer to my prayers
When I read the other reviews, I was skeptical. I have a bad back, and my old mattress was just making matters worse. It was a traditional mattress. I decided to go with Amerisleep AS2. The mattress is very firm but soft to the touch at the same time. I have had the best sleep in years after purchasing this mattress. And a lot of my back pains are gone. I am very happy with this mattress and I plan to replace my daughter’s mattress with another Amerisleep mattress.

Insane back relief
I have suffered from disc issues in my back for the past 15 years. I have had daily pain for the past five years. My back and hip pain have been almost entirely eliminated within one month of sleeping on this mattress. It has improved my daily quality of life and is by far the most comfortable mattress I have ever slept on.

I would definitely rebuy this exact mattress in the future!
I love that it comes more firm in the beginning and softens up as time passes by. I heard about it from a friend and tried their bed and ordered one for ourselves and been very happy with it.

This mattress is incredible! My wife and I have done countless hours of research for the best mattresses on the market. Amerisleep is, by far, the best product for quality sleep, comfort, and overall satisfaction!

I would buy this product again
I have a bad back. My husband and I bought a new bed about a year ago. Unfortunately, I'm at the point the bed is to soft for me to sleep on. I have searched several bedding stores and they all said the same thing. If I didn't like the bed I could get a store credit. My fear was what if I can't find a bed I can sleep on in their store. That's why I like Amerisleep. They guarantee satisfaction or your money back. Luckily I first bed I purchased with Amerisleep has been awesome. I would recommend Amerisleep to everyone.

Soft and supportive.
This bed is amazing, it's more on the softer side but I like it like that. It's got great support too. I've always woken up with back pain on my previous mattress but not with this one.

Great Bed
Great Mattress. Sleeps cool and has the level of firmness as described. I tend to prefer a firmer bed (back issues) and my wife prefers very soft beds. The AS4 is perfect for both of us. Soft while giving good support. I am surprised some folks have rated it as "way too firm." My wife loves a super soft bed and absolutely loves it. Would 100% buy again.

This product is AMAZING!!!!!
This mattress has truly changed my life. Years on end I've been waking up multiple times during the night due to either heat or the stiffness/cratering of my generic mattress. My Amerisleep mattress has me sleeping through the entire night both cool and comfortably, I truly feel like I am sleeping on a cloud. Thank you Amerisleep for such an amazing product! I highly recommend this product to anyone in need of a new mattress or that is currently experiencing sleep issues.

A great mattress for bony side-sleepers!
Because of our narrow staircase to a converted loft, we had to choose a mattress in a box or we could not do a king-sized mattress. While heavy, the Amerisleep mattress was manageable up the stairs and very easy to open. I love that it did not off-gas at all. Zero. We've slept on it for more than a month now and it's starting to soften considerably. Perfect for both of us as we are side sleepers who need a softer mattress for our pressure points. I don't wake up sore anymore.

New to Memory Foam
This was my first memory foam mattress and I had read mixed reviews so I was nervous about having an adjustment period and not being able to rest during that time. For me, there was no adjustment with this mattress. I slept great the first night and every night since then. I no longer wake up with pain in my hips and legs and it's amazing.

Frequently Asked Questions
While there is no one best mattress for everyone, there is a mattress that’s right for you. The best mattresses alleviate pressure, provide firm support, and contain durable materials. Your preferred firmness and budget will determine what your perfect mattress is.
There are four mattress types you can consider.
Memory Foam Mattresses
Memory foam provides excellent pressure relief with its hug-like feel.
To create memory foam, manufacturers take polyurethane foam and add chemicals to make
it more responsive to heat and weight.
Every memory foam mattress contains two to four layers of foam. The top layer is memory foam, and the base layer is a rigid, supportive foam. Softer mattresses have in-between layers to prevent you from feeling the support core and to make the bed more responsive, despite a thicker comfort layer.
Memory foam’s density can retain heat, which is why many manufacturers infuse memory foam with cooling gels, copper, graphite, or ceramic beads. To prevent heat retention, we replace some of the petrochemicals used in traditional memory foam production with plant-based alternatives. The substitution creates our more breathable Bio-Pur® foam.
Latex Mattresses
Latex mattresses have a similar feel to memory foam, conforming to your body to relieve pressure.
Natural latex is an eco-friendly material, as producers harvest sap from rubber trees.
There are two types of natural latex, Dunlop and Talalay. Dunlop is a firmer material, as manufacturers add polyurethane fillers to Talalay latex to make it softer. Because of the added steps and material to make it, Talalay latex tends to cost more than Dunlop.
If you have a latex allergy, there’s also synthetic latex. Synthetic latex has a much shorter expected lifespan than natural latex, but the material is also less costly to produce.
Innerspring Mattresses
Innerspring mattresses remain a common mattress choice. Their coil support cores are bouncy and breathable,
but you might feel the coils even through a pillow top mattress. The thin comfort layer often cannot provide
sufficient pressure relief—and if too thin, allergens and pests may penetrate the mattress and accumulate in the
bed’s coil layer.
Partners sharing an innerspring may find that the coils transfer their movements, so a restless sleeper may disturb their partner’s sleep.
Hybrid Mattresses
Hybrids mattresses mix innerspring coils with 2 to 3 inches of foam.
Typically the coils are individually wrapped, known as pocketed or Marshall coils,
to prevent motion transfer. The foam layer is thicker than an innerspring’s thin padding,
providing more pressure relief and preventing allergens from penetrating the mattress.
Yes. This is the idea behind a split king size mattress, where manufacturers divide a mattress into two twin XL size halves. With a split king mattress, couples can personalize each side of the bed to their firmness preferences.
While queen and king size mattresses have many variations such as an Olympic queen or a California king, there are only two types of twin mattresses: a regular twin and a twin XL. A twin size mattress works well in guest rooms and children’s rooms—but the 5 extra inches of a twin XL size mattress can accommodate taller people.
Twin | Twin XL |
38 inches by 75 inches | 38 inches by 80 inches |
You should choose a mattress firmness based on your preferred sleeping position and weight. For example, side sleepers need a plusher mattress than back and stomach sleepers.
Sleeping Positions
- Side sleepers need a soft to medium mattress to ease pressure in the shoulders and hips while meeting their bodies’ curves for support.
- Back sleepers need a medium-firm to firm mattress for back support and pressure relief for the hips.
- Stomach sleepers require a medium-firm to firm mattress to support neutral spine alignment.
- Combination sleepers need a medium to medium-firm mattress to maintain alignment.
Body Types
- Petite sleepers under 130 pounds need a softer mattress to conform to the body for pressure relief.
- Average sleepers between 130 to 230 pounds require a medium surface for a mix of support and comfort.
- Heavy sleepers over 230 pounds need a firmer mattress to take on their weight with premature sagging.
Our mattresses come in five different firmnesses:
- AS1—Firm
- AS2—Medium-firm
- AS3—Medium
- AS4—Medium-soft
- AS5—Soft
Mattresses can feel different over time because materials soften as they wear out or grow firmer as your body compresses the comfort layer through frequent use. If you need to change the feel of your bed, consider adding a foam topper.
The Amerisleep sleep trial lasts 100 nights, with the first 30 nights being a required adjustment period. If the customer doesn’t like the mattress after day 31, then Amerisleep can work with the customer to pick up and return the used mattress before providing a full refund.
Amerisleep offers a 20-year warranty, one of the best in the industry, covering sagging greater than 1.5” inches and defects which could damage the bed. Most mattress companies only cover sagging greater than 2 inches.
Our mattresses are built to last 10 or more years. Our mattresses’ durability is why we include a 20-year warranty that covers sagging greater than 0.75 inches.
Yes. Our AS2’s medium-firm feel is excellent for alleviating back pain. The medium-firm feel maintains neutral spine alignment.
Like all memory foam mattresses, it’s best to keep an Amerisleep mattress on a foundation with consistent, even support. We recommend solid or slatted platform bases—preferably slatted, as air can then flow through the mattress and wick away heat and moisture.
Adjustable bases are also an excellent place to put your mattress, particularly if you have a health condition such as restless legs, snoring, sleep apnea, or acid reflux. Adjustable bed frames raise parts of the body for better blood flow and unobstructed airways. Many adjustable foundations also include extra features such as massagers, under bed lighting, and USB ports.
We strongly advise against keeping your Amerisleep mattress on a box spring, as the coils inside a box spring are not grouped closely enough to offer the consistent support a memory foam mattress needs. If you keep a memory foam mattress on a box spring, parts of the mattress may dip between the box spring’s coils, stretching the bed and negating its support. This is why keeping your Amerisleep mattress on a box spring voids its warranty.
