Frequently Asked Questions

When is the Best Time to Buy a Mattress?

Looking for a good mattress sale can be tricky. If you’re looking at brick-and-mortar locations in League City, always ask the sales associate when the sale ends and often the sale runs. If you’re looking online, check to see if the mattress company offers promo codes or referral codes for deeper discounts.

Generally, the best time to buy a mattress in League City is during one of the four major holidays: Memorial Day, Labor Day, Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and Presidents Day.

The Black Friday mattress sale is often one of the best, with most mattress companies offering a few hundred dollars off their mattress plus free pillows or sheets.

What is the Best Mattress of 2019?

We are a little biased but we like the Amerisleep AS3. We were one of the first bed in box companies and we have worked tirelessly to provide a comfortable and supportive mattress at an affordable price.

How Often Should You Replace Your Pillow?

A good mattress can only do so much. Finding the best pillow for your neck is just as important. Most people don’t know you should replace your pillow every 2-3 years. Pillows often lose their shape and support faster than a mattress.

If looking for the best pillow, consider investing in a memory foam pillow but look for one that has a ventilated airways or promotes breathability.

League City, TX Tidbits

In Galveston County lies the community of League City. It is located within the Houston-The Woodlands-Sugar Land metropolitan area and had 83,560 residents during the 2010 census. It was more than a 50 percent increase from its number of residents in the 2000 survey.

From 2000 to 2005, it even became the county's largest city, having surpassed the city of Galveston's population size. Because it's within an impressive metropolitan area, League City has many thrilling activities whether it's in the outdoors or inside a spacious entertainment complex. League City is even popular among nearby cities because of its several world-renowned resorts.

The large city started with a small community that inhabited the area that was once home to a Karankawa Indian Village, near Clear Creek and Magnolia Bayou. According to historians, the city was founded by three pioneering families, the Perkinses, Cowarts, and Butlers. The second family left their legacy behind in Cowart's Creek and Cowart Bayou, where they once built their home.

The first permanent residential structure in League City was established near the Clear Creek and Chigger Bayou in 1873. This place was called "Butler's Ranch" after the settler. The Henderson Railroad was already established through the area since the 1850s. This gave support to the construction of the Little Green School.

Aside from the train depot, the small community also had a boarding house. Soon, general merchandise stores were constructed. The three families had settled in different areas, with the Perkinses establishing their residence on the Magnolia Bayou. In 1890s, a land development in Clear Creek sold off parcels of land to farmers and other investors.

Although the area already had a community, it wasn't until 1893 when plans for the future League City were laid out. The first idea was to establish a town that would be close to the big cities already established in the area like Houston and Galveston. After several years, Butler's Ranch was changed to "League City".

In 1896, the post office officially declared its address as League City, but not everyone agreed, especially those living in the Clear Creek area. The post office was relocated several times between Clear Creek and League City. In the end, though, the community bore the name "League City".

In 1897, the League Park was established on a plot of land donated by a prominent town member. In 1907, several live oaks were planted in the city. They can still be seen on parks around League City since they are also considered part of the place's history as historical landmarks. These trees are locally referred to as League City's Butler Oaks.

The people's livelihood included planting a variety of crops and plants like cotton, corn, potatoes, strawberries, sugar cane, and more. Later on, the town also grew and harvested figs, dates, and grapefruits. By the 1910s, League City already had several residential structures, a state bank, a high school, a pickling plant, broom factories, and more. When a lumber company was opened, more people came to League City to settle down, find work, and raise families.

A few years later, the League City School District merged with the Clear Creek Consolidated Independent School District. The businesses in tow expanded, from just 35 to almost 200. This attracted new investors and homeowners. League City went from a town with just 800 people to a city with 19,000 residents.

League City has a mix of various cultures and ethnicities like African American, Asian, Hispanic or Latino, and Native American. There are many industry sectors in the city, but the biggest employers are in healthcare, followed by manufacturing, education, scientific and technical services, retail, construction, public service, finance, and administration. The median home value in League City is around $266,465, and there are more than 32,000 apartments and houses in the community.

The Butler Longhorn Museum is a center for cultural and historical education. It was first opened to the public in May 2009. The museum is housed in a structure that was once home to a local banker. Now, it is an establishment that tells the story of League City, especially the story of the community's prominent families and local leaders.
