Frequently Asked Questions

When is the Best Time to Buy a Mattress?

Looking for a good mattress sale can be tricky. If you’re looking at brick-and-mortar locations in Hutto, always ask the sales associate when the sale ends and often the sale runs. If you’re looking online, check to see if the mattress company offers promo codes or referral codes for deeper discounts.

Generally, the best time to buy a mattress in Hutto is during one of the four major holidays: Memorial Day, Labor Day, Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and Presidents Day.

The Black Friday mattress sale is often one of the best, with most mattress companies offering a few hundred dollars off their mattress plus free pillows or sheets.

What is the Best Mattress of 2019?

We are a little biased but we like the Amerisleep AS3. We were one of the first bed in box companies and we have worked tirelessly to provide a comfortable and supportive mattress at an affordable price.

How Often Should You Replace Your Pillow?

A good mattress can only do so much. Finding the best pillow for your neck is just as important. Most people don’t know you should replace your pillow every 2-3 years. Pillows often lose their shape and support faster than a mattress.

If looking for the best pillow, consider investing in a memory foam pillow but look for one that has a ventilated airways or promotes breathability.

Hutto, TX Tidbits

Hutto lies within the Austin-Round Rock metropolitan area, with a 2010 population of 14,698 people. A city within Williamson County, Texas, Hutto derives its name from a pioneer who moved to Williamson County in 1855. The county was just recently founded in 1848, and there were only a few structures there. A few people opened stores in Shiloh, a town near the land that would soon be occupied by the city of Hutto.

Shiloh also had a school, but this town faded away when its residents moved to Hutto. The only thing that remains of this community is the McCutcheon-Shiloh area. In 1876, some parcels of land in the area were sold to a land company from New York. The company bought the several acres for a right-of-way for the train tracks. This was the start of the new town. In the same year, the International Great Northern Railroad came to establish a route through the new settlement. The train depot was named Hutto Station, which later gave rise to the Hutto community.

There are more than 7,500 students across around nine schools in the area, served by the Hutto Independent School District. The Hutto High School has a Career and Technical Education Program that's renowned nationwide. It is also the only school that has a hippo mascot in the entire country. Hutto is also home to the Eastern Williamson Higher Education Center, which is an institution managed by Temple Junior College, Texas A&M University Central Texas, and the Texas State Technical College.

Hutto has a Downtown District well-known for the site of its foundation day celebration where people commemorate the town's humble origins. One of the local tales in the area is about the Hutto Hippo. According to the locals, a circus arrived in town during the 19th century. A hippopotamus escaped and ran around the community. The train depot had to send out an urgent telegram stopping all trains from going to Hutto.

The local festival commemorates this event in the form of floats for the "Hippos on Parade!" Since the 19th century, the hippo has become the city's local symbol. In town, there is something called the "Hippo Hunt". All over the city, there are dozens of find hippo landmarks everywhere. Some of them are located outside the fire station, civic halls, and schools.

Many of the current residents in Hutto trace their ancestries to Danish, Swedish, and German immigrants who arrived in the area from the 18th to 20th century. From a population of 571 residents in 1920, the city now has 23,832 locals in the 2016 estimate.

Many of them were descended from European and Latin American settlers. They also contributed to the city's present economy and construction of historic landmarks. One of oldest sites in the city is called Norman's Crossing. It was a small community that started in the mid-1800s. During the early 1910s, the small village had a school, a store, and a repair shop. Now, although the village is part of Hutto, only a few people live in the area, most of whom are descendents of the early settlers.
