Frequently Asked Questions

When is the Best Time to Buy a Mattress?

Looking for a good mattress sale can be tricky. If you’re looking at brick-and-mortar locations in National City, always ask the sales associate when the sale ends and often the sale runs. If you’re looking online, check to see if the mattress company offers promo codes or referral codes for deeper discounts.

Generally, the best time to buy a mattress in National City is during one of the four major holidays: Memorial Day, Labor Day, Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and Presidents Day.

The Black Friday mattress sale is often one of the best, with most mattress companies offering a few hundred dollars off their mattress plus free pillows or sheets.

What is the Best Mattress of 2019?

We are a little biased but we like the Amerisleep AS3. We were one of the first bed in box companies and we have worked tirelessly to provide a comfortable and supportive mattress at an affordable price.

How Often Should You Replace Your Pillow?

A good mattress can only do so much. Finding the best pillow for your neck is just as important. Most people don’t know you should replace your pillow every 2-3 years. Pillows often lose their shape and support faster than a mattress.

If looking for the best pillow, consider investing in a memory foam pillow but look for one that has a ventilated airways or promotes breathability.

National City, CA Tidbits

Located in the South Bay region, National City is second oldest city in San Diego County. It had a reported number of 58,582 residents during the 2010 census. In 2016, the estimated population size is at 61,147. The city's history of settlements started with the Kumeyaay, a Native American people who were sometimes known as the Diegueno tribe or the Kamai. Their villages survived well into the 19th century when the Spanish explorers were already setting up colonies in the area.

The 26,000-acre land that would soon birth National City was called "El Rancho del Rey" or "The Land of the King" and was used primarily for the grazing horses. In 1810, the Mexican government was able to claim the land. It was renamed "Rancho de la Nacion" or the "Ranch of the Nation". Soon, after the land fell to the hands of the United States of America, it was called "The National Ranch".

The city's modern foundation and construction of present infrastructure started in 1868 when builders from San Francisco came to the area. Houses, paves roads, and railroads were later constructed. This allowed the city to flourish since it became easier for other California residents to find and live in the new community that was simply called National City.

During this time, modern transportation was introduced to the residents. The city's first post office was constructed and imports and exports through sea voyage became a successful industry. One of the most historic landmarks in National City are the age-old trees that hundreds of years old. They were imported from Europe and Asia. Now, they stand in the city's parks and forests. National City was incorporated in 1887.

According to the 2010 census, there were more renters than house owners in National City, with only 33.8 percent of the residential structures occupied by house owners. There were many single-family homes in the city, about 180,000 of them. The prices for houses and apartments have also been steadily growing. In 2002, the price for a single-family house was $218,000. It was higher than the price in 2000, which was at $155,000.

The city is diverse, with many residents who have Mexican, Filipino, German, Italian, Irish, Native American, Puerto Rican, French, Japanese, Polish, Russian, and even Greek heritage. The tourism industry is huge in National City, especially after the establishment of the National Tourism Marketing District, which implemented the construction of several buildings like inns, hotels, and plazas to cater to tourists and visitors.

There are many historic points of interests in National City, including the National City California Southern Railroad Depot, which was first built in 1882. It served the Santa Fe Railway and is the only one among the five transcontinental terminals that still stands today. Many of the executives of the Sante Fe Railway resided in the Brick Row on Heritage Square. This structure consists of ten individual row houses.

The San Diego Academy is another historic landmark. This private K-12 school started in 1899. There are also other private schools, although most of the students study in National City's ten public schools. They are served by the National School District. Some of them are among the list of California's Distinguished Schools.
