Frequently Asked Questions
Looking for a good mattress sale can be tricky. If you’re looking at brick-and-mortar locations in Surprise, always ask the sales associate when the sale ends and often the sale runs. If you’re looking online, check to see if the mattress company offers promo codes or referral codes for deeper discounts.
Generally, the best time to buy a mattress in Surprise is during one of the four major holidays: Memorial Day, Labor Day, Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and Presidents Day.
The Black Friday mattress sale is often one of the best, with most mattress companies offering a few hundred dollars off their mattress plus free pillows or sheets.
We are a little biased but we like the Amerisleep AS3. We were one of the first bed in box companies and we have worked tirelessly to provide a comfortable and supportive mattress at an affordable price.
A good mattress can only do so much. Finding the best pillow for your neck is just as important. Most people don’t know you should replace your pillow every 2-3 years. Pillows often lose their shape and support faster than a mattress.
If looking for the best pillow, consider investing in a memory foam pillow but look for one that has a ventilated airways or promotes breathability.

Surprise, AZ Tidbits
The second fastest growing municipality in the Phoenix Metropolitan Area, after Gilbert, is the community of Surprise, Arizona. Located in Maricopa County, Surprise only had 30,848 residents during the 2010 census. Ten years after, the population size ballooned to 117,517. That's a 281 percent increase in just one decade. Surprise is also home to a 10,562-square-foot aquatics center and the 20,000-square-foot northwest regional library.
The origin of the town's name began when it was founded in 1938 as a property purchased by an individual who didn't believe that the town could amount to anything valuable. Back when the community was still newly established, Surprise only had a few houses and a gas station. The one-mile-square piece of land was then subdivided into different lots for houses for farm workers.
This small piece of land has now expanded, but it is still referred to as the city's original town site. Since then, Surprise, Arizona has experienced exponential growth as a viable farming community and as a suburb of the Phoenix area. Surprise is bounded by Bell Road, El Mirage Road, Greenway Road, and Dysart Road from north to west respectively. The city was eventually incorporated in 1960.
Within Surprise's city borders is the community of Sun City Grand, a housing development created by a real estate development company. Thousands of retirees flocked to the area during the 1990s and early 2000s, increasing the population and median household income of Surprise. Surprise is also just five miles from the original retirement community, Sun City, and is just as close to Sun City West.
There are a lot of job opportunities for people in Surprise. The biggest employer of Surprise residents is the school district, which has over 1,753 employees. Retail shops come in close, which means that Surprise is a great city for establishing stable careers and businesses. The city has a lot of history. The local governing body of Sunrise wanted to preserve the original town site and its heritage, so it was here that the city's heritage trail for its female pioneers was dedicated in April 2013.
There are trail maps available at the city hall that point to the different paths dedicated to the honorable and important female historical figures in Surprise. South side trails lead to a landmark near Grand Avenue Frontage Road. On this site once stood a cafe, a grocery store, and an automotive shop.
Some of the women being remembered in Surprise were members of the city's first women's club, as well as journalists for regional papers. A market on Grand Avenue was established in the 1950s. It was the premier site for grocery shopping and, for many years, it also served as the city's polling place.
The city's current population is a 2,207.8 percent increase from its number in 2000. It has 42,044 households and an average household income of $71,803. This is a 9 percent increase since 2010. The median price of homes in Surprise is $154,248 and its sales tax rate is at 6.3 percent.
