Frequently Asked Questions

When is the Best Time to Buy a Mattress?

Looking for a good mattress sale can be tricky. If you’re looking at brick-and-mortar locations in El Mirage, always ask the sales associate when the sale ends and often the sale runs. If you’re looking online, check to see if the mattress company offers promo codes or referral codes for deeper discounts.

Generally, the best time to buy a mattress in El Mirage is during one of the four major holidays: Memorial Day, Labor Day, Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and Presidents Day.

The Black Friday mattress sale is often one of the best, with most mattress companies offering a few hundred dollars off their mattress plus free pillows or sheets.

What is the Best Mattress of 2019?

We are a little biased but we like the Amerisleep AS3. We were one of the first bed in box companies and we have worked tirelessly to provide a comfortable and supportive mattress at an affordable price.

How Often Should You Replace Your Pillow?

A good mattress can only do so much. Finding the best pillow for your neck is just as important. Most people don’t know you should replace your pillow every 2-3 years. Pillows often lose their shape and support faster than a mattress.

If looking for the best pillow, consider investing in a memory foam pillow but look for one that has a ventilated airways or promotes breathability.

El Mirage, AZ Tidbits

Just 10 miles northwest of Downtown Phoenix is the community of El Mirage, considered by many to be the gateway to the Northwest Valley of the Greater Phoenix Metropolitan Area. During the 2010 census, El Mirage had 31,767 residents, but the city once started out as a small farming town with only a handful of houses.

The city's early history began with the Hohokam people, an ancient Native American group who roamed Arizona and parts of Mexico. They were the first recorded inhabitants of what is now El Mirage. According to historians and archeologists, the Hohokam people migrated from the northern part of Mexico around 300 B.C. and crossed over to the Arizona region where they became skilled irrigation farmers.

Many of the canals they made were re-used by the settlers who came after them. The Hohokam people were greatly known as "Canal Builders" since the irrigation system they used was considered brilliant. Archeologists were able to discover that these people used only stone instruments and organized labor to build the canals.

In 1867, there were already many settlers who lived in the area. Some of them were from the northern parts of the country. Others were immigrants from Europe or Mexico. They retrenched the canals made by the Hohokam people. This made farming life easier in El Mirage. It wasn't until the early 20th century that federal irrigation systems were put in place to make farming and ranching better in the southwestern areas.

Throughout the Phoenix Valley, many homesteaders started planting orchards and citrus groves because of the consistent water supply. This helped many of the cities and towns in Arizona become major centers of the citrus and cotton industry.

In the 1930s, many more farm workers settled in El Mirage. Many of them were from Mexico. On the west bank of the Agua Fria River, they built canals and harvested crops. In 1937, these immigrant workers built their own community, which they named "El Mirage". The city was later incorporated in 1951 although it was largely just a residential community.

Through the years, however, El Mirage began to grow, thanks to the establishment of shopping centers, parks, and recreation complexes. In 1990, El Mirage only had 5,001 residents. Now, it has more than 30,000 people calling it home. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, El Mirage will continue to see an increase in population size and economic progress.

El Mirage is part of the economic project known as the Greater Maricopa Foreign Trade Zone in the West Valley. This means that El Mirage has a designated 400-acre site, which serves as a storage area for foreign and domestic goods. The city's dedicated zone is also where such goods are stored, assembled, and exhibited for sale. These are exempted from United States Customs duties and taxes. El Mirage has also been slowly opening up to more new investors, big retail stores, and well-known brands.

There are several new buildings in the city center. There are new fire and police stations, a Northwest Valley family center, and the New City Hall. With the city's population growing by the year, more and more centers have to be built to accommodate new residents.

There are two prominent historic structures in El Mirage: the Agua Fria River Bridge and a local motel. The former was built in 1895 by the Santa Fe Railroad so that its trains could cross over the Agua Fria River. The latter, meanwhile, was built in 1937. It was made of fieldstone and no longer stands today. However, there is still one side of the office walls still standing. Many residents are currently campaigning for the preservation of this historic site.
