Frequently Asked Questions
Looking for a good mattress sale can be tricky. If you’re looking at brick-and-mortar locations in Tucson, always ask the sales associate when the sale ends and often the sale runs. If you’re looking online, check to see if the mattress company offers promo codes or referral codes for deeper discounts.
Generally, the best time to buy a mattress in Tucson is during one of the four major holidays: Memorial Day, Labor Day, Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and Presidents Day.
The Black Friday mattress sale is often one of the best, with most mattress companies offering a few hundred dollars off their mattress plus free pillows or sheets.
We are a little biased but we like the Amerisleep AS3. We were one of the first bed in box companies and we have worked tirelessly to provide a comfortable and supportive mattress at an affordable price.
A good mattress can only do so much. Finding the best pillow for your neck is just as important. Most people don’t know you should replace your pillow every 2-3 years. Pillows often lose their shape and support faster than a mattress.
If looking for the best pillow, consider investing in a memory foam pillow but look for one that has a ventilated airways or promotes breathability.
Tucson, AZ Tidbits
Tucson is a large city in Arizona, and it experiences more than 350 sunny days. The city is also the seat of Pima County, making it a major center of commerce, entertainment, and cultural learning. According to 2015 records, Tucson has more than 980,000 residents from its multiple suburbs and communities like Marana, Sahuarita, Oro Valley, Casas Adobes, Flowing Wells, Catalina Foothills, Tanque Verde, Tortolita, Vail, Midvale Park, and Green Valley among others.
Because of the city's history, it is sometimes called the "Old Pueblo". Like many cities in Arizona, Tucson was inhabited by ancient indigenous people as early as 12,000 years ago. The most dominant group of these paleo-tribes in the area were well-known for their irrigation system and canals that were eventually retrenched and used by the pioneers and early settlers in the area.
European explorers established a structure in the small town of Bac in 1700 a few miles from Tucson. The establishment began to draw people to the area and eventually a new structure was built in the area in 1775. It became the basis for the town's name, "Tucson". According to historians, the name comes from the word "cuk son" that meant "at the base of the black hill". In this case, the black hill is the Sentinel Peak.
Tucson is rich in civic centers, entertainment and recreational parks, historic buildings and old streets. Part of the city's charm is its landmarks and significant places. Its oldest neighborhood is El Presidio, which is home to several historic 18th century residential structures used when the town had just been founded.
Another community within the city is Barrio Santa Rosa, which is now part of the National Register of Historic Places. In this neighborhood, the houses sport a variety of styles that have been incorporated throughout the years. The city is drenched in history. One of its biggest desert museums is a world-class center. More than 85 percent of the museum is located outdoors.
It has a botanical garden, a zoo, and other areas where wild animals can be seen in their natural habitats. There are also 21 acres of hiking trails, 230 animal species, and more than 56,000 plants.
The city of Tucson is a large, metropolitan area but it is not as expensive as other places like New York City or San Francisco. In fact, Tucson is cheaper than the national average cost of living by around 6.4 percent. Tucson doesn't have a lot of high-rise buildings in the city. At a more inexpensive price, Tucson houses and apartments are larger and more spacious.
The city government and its people have been making huge strides when it comes to promoting cycling. In fact, Tucson has won several awards for this effort. In 2014, the city was ranked one of the ten best cities in the country for people who love to ride by an online lifestyle magazine.
In 2012, a bicycle magazine considered the city among the country's top 50 bike-friendly cities. Before that, in 2010, Tucson was called the best road-biking city by an outdoor activities magazine. There are now wide bike lanes and shortcuts that run along the creek for cyclists.
