Frequently Asked Questions
Looking for a good mattress sale can be tricky. If you’re looking at brick-and-mortar locations in Casas Adobes, always ask the sales associate when the sale ends and often the sale runs. If you’re looking online, check to see if the mattress company offers promo codes or referral codes for deeper discounts.
Generally, the best time to buy a mattress in Casas Adobes is during one of the four major holidays: Memorial Day, Labor Day, Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and Presidents Day.
The Black Friday mattress sale is often one of the best, with most mattress companies offering a few hundred dollars off their mattress plus free pillows or sheets.
We are a little biased but we like the Amerisleep AS3. We were one of the first bed in box companies and we have worked tirelessly to provide a comfortable and supportive mattress at an affordable price.
A good mattress can only do so much. Finding the best pillow for your neck is just as important. Most people don’t know you should replace your pillow every 2-3 years. Pillows often lose their shape and support faster than a mattress.
If looking for the best pillow, consider investing in a memory foam pillow but look for one that has a ventilated airways or promotes breathability.
Casas Adobes, AZ Tidbits
During the early 20th century, a family originally from Italy came to Chicago but then moved to Arizona after the region was hailed as a walking cure for asthma and other bronchial ailments. This family later brought about the rise of a new 300-acre community within the northern metropolitan area of Tucson, Arizona in Pima County.
This town is now known as Casas Adobes, which is Spanish for "Adobe Houses". Towards the beginning of the 1950s, a compound was built in Arizona. It was called "Casas Adobes" because the residential structures were made of mud bricks or adobe.
Before the subdivision was created, there were already several people who came to this area in the 1920s from other parts of the country. Many of them also had bronchial problems. They were told by physicians to find a cure for their illness in the southern part of the country, particularly in places like Arizona because of its climate and clean air.
These settlers came to the Tucson area in 1923. On 1,500 acres of former ranch land a new settlement was established. Some parts of the land were used as an orchard for date palms and citrus trees.
After a few years, the farm became the center of Tucson's citrus industry. Other farmers took advantage of the growing industry and also bought lands in the Arizona area. Pieces of land from the citrus farm were sold until the 1950s.
Another ranch was established in the area during the 1930s on 100 acres. This was a luxury ranch for celebrities and other famous personalities. It continued to attract wealthy guests until the property was sold in 1948.
It was during this time that the Casas Adobes compound was created. Two more residential subdivisions were established soon after. The construction of a commercial plaza followed. Because of the progress of the subdivisions and the plaza, the surrounding community took on the name "Casas Adobes".
The plaza and several houses were built in the Italian style. According to the locals, the Casas Adobes subdivision was considered to be the first suburb in the Tucson area. A few years later, several globally famous resorts and estates were also founded.
The Casas Adobes community is home to more than 66,000 residents. The plaza displays a lot of Mediterranean architecture. There is also a historic Mediterranean observation tower in the middle of the plaza.
The town of Casas Adobes is also the site of one of the largest and most diverse nature preserves in the entire state of Arizona, the Tohono Chul Park. It is a botanical garden, preserve, and natural museum all rolled into one. It has 49 acres of desert habitat that offers a view of the Santa Catalina Mountains.
The park is a permanent home to more than 38 species of birds and 57 migratory bird species. There are also Gila monsters, bobcats, and other reptiles and mammals in the park. Its botanical garden has 150 species of trees and shrubs, more than 300 cacti species, and 50 species of wildflowers.
