Frequently Asked Questions

When is the Best Time to Buy a Mattress?

Looking for a good mattress sale can be tricky. If you’re looking at brick-and-mortar locations in Houston, always ask the sales associate when the sale ends and often the sale runs. If you’re looking online, check to see if the mattress company offers promo codes or referral codes for deeper discounts.

Generally, the best time to buy a mattress in Houston is during one of the four major holidays: Memorial Day, Labor Day, Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and Presidents Day.

The Black Friday mattress sale is often one of the best, with most mattress companies offering a few hundred dollars off their mattress plus free pillows or sheets.

What is the Best Mattress of 2019?

We are a little biased but we like the Amerisleep AS3. We were one of the first bed in box companies and we have worked tirelessly to provide a comfortable and supportive mattress at an affordable price.

How Often Should You Replace Your Pillow?

A good mattress can only do so much. Finding the best pillow for your neck is just as important. Most people don’t know you should replace your pillow every 2-3 years. Pillows often lose their shape and support faster than a mattress.

If looking for the best pillow, consider investing in a memory foam pillow but look for one that has a ventilated airways or promotes breathability.

Houston, TX Tidbits

Houston, Texas is home to several bodies of water and scenic terrains. The city's landscape includes places like the Buffalo Bayou, which is a 52-mile waterway that has been around long enough to have witnessed the birth of the city of Houston in 1836.

On August 30 of that year, two business partners bought 6,642 acres of land near the Buffalo Bayou. It was named "Houston" after a famous Texan general. During this time, Houston became an economic hub, primarily because of its cotton production. This galvanized the community's business developments.

Many railways converged in Houston and many more people decided to move into the city, which eventually became the railroad center of the entire state in 1890. The city continues to grow and, in 2016, its population was reported at an impressive 2.303 million residents.

Because of its many commercial buildings and cultural establishments, Houston has been dubbed as a "Global City", which means that it excels in many different industries. It is also called "Space City" because of its breakthrough developments in aeronautics, transportation, and energy. It is, in fact, home to NASA's Johnson Space Center where the Mission Control Center is located. Officially called the Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center, it began as NASA's Space Task Group in 1958.

Aside from Houston's space establishments, the city is also home to several museums. One of the biggest structures is the Houston Museum of Natural Science on 5555 Hermann Park. The establishment has been around for more than a century, having been started in 1909 by the Houston Museum and Scientific Society

The museum began with a series of small displays in Downtown Houston until it was able to host galleries in the Houston Zoo. Now, it is one of the most visited museums in the entire country. Thousands of people visit its facilities every year.

The museum houses the Burke Baker Planetarium, which showcases information, exhibits, and shows about space and the planets. Another educational hub is the Cockrell Butterfly Center, which is filled with tropical plants and butterflies. The center is also home to the Brown Hall of Entomology where visitors can observe a live insect zoo.

More than seven million guests visit the city every year. Aside from its entertainment district, the research institutions of Houston are also world-class. In fact, the city is home to Rice University and the University of Houston, which are considered Tier-1 institutes. These colleges also contribute to the city's population increase, with more than 44,000 students enrolled in the University of Houston and 3,000 in Rice University.

The city also has 17 school districts serving its students. The Houston Independent School District is the largest one in the entire state, and there are around 300 private schools in the area. The city also has several community colleges considered some of the best higher education institutions in the country. Houston has a median household income of $48,064, with a median property value of $152,200. The city has a large population of Hispanic residents, and many of them come from Mexico, El Salvador, and Honduras.
