Frequently Asked Questions
Looking for a good mattress sale can be tricky. If you’re looking at brick-and-mortar locations in Leander, always ask the sales associate when the sale ends and often the sale runs. If you’re looking online, check to see if the mattress company offers promo codes or referral codes for deeper discounts.
Generally, the best time to buy a mattress in Leander is during one of the four major holidays: Memorial Day, Labor Day, Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and Presidents Day.
The Black Friday mattress sale is often one of the best, with most mattress companies offering a few hundred dollars off their mattress plus free pillows or sheets.
We are a little biased but we like the Amerisleep AS3. We were one of the first bed in box companies and we have worked tirelessly to provide a comfortable and supportive mattress at an affordable price.
A good mattress can only do so much. Finding the best pillow for your neck is just as important. Most people don’t know you should replace your pillow every 2-3 years. Pillows often lose their shape and support faster than a mattress.
If looking for the best pillow, consider investing in a memory foam pillow but look for one that has a ventilated airways or promotes breathability.

Leander, TX Tidbits
One of the suburbs of Austin is the fourth fastest growing city in Texas. It is called Leander and it had 37,889 residents during the 2016 survey. The city was established on July 17, 1882 and was actually called "Bagdad". The area was inhabited by American settlers in 1845 after the Texas Revolution. After a decade, many businesses started opening in the community. One of the first stores was a blacksmith's shop, followed by a post office in 1858. Eventually, this attracted other people and more settlers set up shop and farms in Bagdad.
The population increased when Bagdad became a stagecoach stop. This allowed the residents to get goods delivered from Austin. Because of this, the town was able to establish a hotel, a school, general merchandise stores, another blacksmith shop, and several other buildings.
The first school began in 1871 and it was started by a group of men for their specific organization. However, because it was the only free school for miles, it drew attention from nearby neighborhoods. Although it was not the primary intention for the school's founders, it did help increase the number of residents in town.
After a railroad company established a train tracks in Bagdad in the 1880s, more and more people came to the small town to build stores and residential structures. Although farming remained the main industry, this new business opened up more opportunities for Bagdad residents and visitors.
This was also the time when a new town near the train tracks was established in 1882. The new town was called "Leander". The Bagdad post office was relocated to Leander, making the town official on local maps. Soon after, a new bank was established in town. Other professionals followed suit and put up their own businesses. The town saw a rise in the number of offices by doctors, lawyers, and others. Leander also had its own drug store.
A year after the new town was established, several other establishments was founded. Back then, during the 1890s, the town had only a little more than 300 residents. Public schools were then opened in Leander and Bagdad in the early 1890s, but this didn't make the town immune to losing a number of townspeople. In the 1900s, the population dwindled to 283 residents.
Even with only a few locals in town, this period in Leander's history was marked with the rise of local baseball games and interschool competitions. The school was the main focus of activity. The town's population growth picked up in 1919 when A.K. Davis brought over many Mexican farmers into the area. This helped to stabilize the town and the farming industry in the area.
Like many communities, Leander suffered some setbacks during the Great Depression in the 1920s. Fearing that their farming won't be enough to sustain a living, some townspeople moved to other cities, leaving Leander with only 200 people. It took more than three decades for the town's population to return to 300.
In the 1960s, housing developments attracted prospects from other towns. More stores were established and Leander had three groceries and retail outlets during this time. In 1978, Leander was incorporated as a city with a lot of residents. Subdivisions were being established throughout town to keep up with the demand for more housing.
Leander's Old Town District hosts one of Central Texas' biggest celebrations held during May, which is filled with many booths and fun contests. Many of Leander's historic figures have been immortalized through street names, and some old buildings have also been preserved. The Mason Homestead on 1101 S. Bagdad Road is a restored farmhouse. It was first built and used in the 1860s. The original owner had received the 300-acre property as a gift from his father years earlier.
A historic residential structure on Leander is the A.S. Mason house, which was built in 1866. It is considered a historic landmark and sits on a lot that's less than an acre. The two-story house is large and some parts are patterned after the Victorian style. With over 1,888 square feet, it is one of the oldest houses in the city and it remains one of the most important pieces of Leander's history, back when most of its pioneers were still from a little town called Bagdad.
