Frequently Asked Questions

When is the Best Time to Buy a Mattress?

Looking for a good mattress sale can be tricky. If you’re looking at brick-and-mortar locations in Westminster, always ask the sales associate when the sale ends and often the sale runs. If you’re looking online, check to see if the mattress company offers promo codes or referral codes for deeper discounts.

Generally, the best time to buy a mattress in Westminster is during one of the four major holidays: Memorial Day, Labor Day, Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and Presidents Day.

The Black Friday mattress sale is often one of the best, with most mattress companies offering a few hundred dollars off their mattress plus free pillows or sheets.

What is the Best Mattress of 2019?

We are a little biased but we like the Amerisleep AS3. We were one of the first bed in box companies and we have worked tirelessly to provide a comfortable and supportive mattress at an affordable price.

How Often Should You Replace Your Pillow?

A good mattress can only do so much. Finding the best pillow for your neck is just as important. Most people don’t know you should replace your pillow every 2-3 years. Pillows often lose their shape and support faster than a mattress.

If looking for the best pillow, consider investing in a memory foam pillow but look for one that has a ventilated airways or promotes breathability.

Westminster, CO Tidbits

The city of Westminster is one of Colorado's home rule municipalities and is a self-governing community. It's also considered a suburb of the state's Denver city and is located within the Adams and Jefferson Counties. During the 2010 census, Westminster had 106,114 residents, making it the seventh most populous city in Colorado. It is among the top 300 cities in the United States of America when it comes to the number of residents. In 2006, Money magazine named the city the 24th best place to live in the United States.

Since Westminster is sandwiched between Denver and Boulder, its residents and visitors get the best of both worlds. Currently, Westminster has more than 113,000 residents, but it continues to grow as more and more people from nearby communities buy homes in this suburb. Renovations are on-going, in the hopes of attracting more business owners, but there are already several establishments located in Downtown Westminster.

Westminster's communities started in the mid-19th century when gold was discovered in the South Platte River Valley in Little Dry Creek in 1858. Many people flocked to the area that would soon be Westminster, Colorado. Although California was popular among prospectors and homesteaders, the Land Act of 1862 prompted many people to settle in Colorado instead.

According to historians, the first home in Westminster was built in 1870. It was constructed on over 160 acres of land, which he used for farming. That land is situated in what is now 76th Avenue and Lowell Boulevard. Back then, the community was called DeSpain Junction. A few more farmers settled in the area. One of them established a home in Westminster in 1871. The red-brick house is now one of Westminster's most iconic and historic landmarks.

The Westminster Historical Society uses it as a museum, with many of its furniture and objects preserved for posterity. It's located on 3924 W. 72nd Avenue and has several displays of photos and memorabilia of other pioneers. At the museum, there are vintage objects and antiques that depict the lives of the merchants, homesteaders, blacksmiths, and railway workers of the 1880s when the railroad came to DeSpain Junction.

Another historic establishment is the Westminster Castle, which was built in 1892. Some locals also call it "The Big Red Castle". It was originally intended to be "The Princeton of the West" when it was constructed in 1890. It was later called Westminster University and began operating as a school in 1908.

During this time, DeSpain Junction was called "Harris" and sometimes called "Harris Park". However, after the town was incorporated, it was renamed to Westminster in honor of the Westminster University. However, it never matched Princeton because it closed its doors to female students.

During the early 1940s, the university was forced to close down. However, the university's name lives on in the current city of Westminster, which has been called home by many notable public figures, scholars, and athletes.

Aside from historic centers, Westminster, Colorado also has a natural learning center, which is home to many animals and plants. It houses over 1,600 butterflies, bees, spiders, beetles, and more. Inside it is the Water's Edge exhibit, which features aquariums and information boards about seahorses, hermit crabs, squids, and more. The "No Bone Zone" also offers a chance for students and teachers to see over 1,000 invertebrate species.
