Frequently Asked Questions

When is the Best Time to Buy a Mattress?

Looking for a good mattress sale can be tricky. If you’re looking at brick-and-mortar locations in Aurora, always ask the sales associate when the sale ends and often the sale runs. If you’re looking online, check to see if the mattress company offers promo codes or referral codes for deeper discounts.

Generally, the best time to buy a mattress in Aurora is during one of the four major holidays: Memorial Day, Labor Day, Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and Presidents Day.

The Black Friday mattress sale is often one of the best, with most mattress companies offering a few hundred dollars off their mattress plus free pillows or sheets.

What is the Best Mattress of 2019?

We are a little biased but we like the Amerisleep AS3. We were one of the first bed in box companies and we have worked tirelessly to provide a comfortable and supportive mattress at an affordable price.

How Often Should You Replace Your Pillow?

A good mattress can only do so much. Finding the best pillow for your neck is just as important. Most people don’t know you should replace your pillow every 2-3 years. Pillows often lose their shape and support faster than a mattress.

If looking for the best pillow, consider investing in a memory foam pillow but look for one that has a ventilated airways or promotes breathability.

Aurora, CO Tidbits

Often considered the "Gateway to the Rockies", the municipality of Aurora is located within the Arapahoe and Adams Counties in Colorado. In the 2010 census, the city had 325,078 residents. Fast forward to 2017 and Aurora now has more than 351,000 locals that call it home. Because of the large number of residents, more businesses are also flocking to the city to establish retail shops and commercial properties.

Aurora is the state's third largest city and it spans over 154 square miles of land. It is a large economic hub and center of business activity, and since it's only a few minutes away from the Denver International Airport, it becomes the first stop on many tourists' itineraries. It is also home to many green businesses that focus on renewable energy, bioscience, and healthcare, among others.

The city of Aurora started out as a town called "Fletcher" during the 1880s. Back then, the community was still small. After some economic setbacks, the residents decided to rename their town. They settled on "Aurora" after one of the subdivisions in the community.

Aurora's history has been preserved by photos, documents, and artifacts at the Aurora History Museum on 15051 E. Alameda Parkway. The museum was first opened to the public in 1979 and it was once housed in an old building. Back then, it only had two galleries and a small office. It was transferred to its current location, and it reopened in 1991.

It has several vintage objects on display. Currently, it features the Trolley Trailer No. 610, a fully-restored trailer that was once used in 1913. The trailer houses over 100 vintage photos and historic objects, as well as memorabilia and artifacts preserved from the 19th and 20th centuries.

The museum isn't the only historic site in Aurora. There are many farm houses that have been preserved, and many of them can be found in the DeLaney Farm Region. The John Gully Homestead House on 200 S. Chambers Road was built somewhere between 1870 and 1871, making it the oldest home in Aurora that's still standing.

The Gully family was Irish and they raised cattle and horses, as well as other food crops and vegetables on their ranch. It was originally located at the Mississippi Avenue but was later relocated and restored in 1982. It is now owned by the Aurora's local governing body.

Nine houses built by Aurora's founder are still around. The oldest of them is the Centennial House on 1671 Galena Street. It was built in 1890 using the Queen Anne Victorian architectural style. The houses were considered luxurious since they had indoor plumbing and a bathroom on the second floor. Currently, there more than a dozen houses that survived from when the town was still called Fletcher.

Other historic structures in Aurora were learning centers like the Melvin School on 4950 S. Laredo Street. It was a two-story schoolhouse that was used for the Melvin community nearby. After several years, the Cherry Creek Valley Historical Society saved it and relocated it to the Smokey Hill High School grounds.

Aurora also has over 97 parks and more than 5,000 acres of open space. The Morrison Nature Center on 16002 E. Smith Road offers walking trails with varying levels of difficulty. The center offers lots of interactive nature exhibits for curious visitors. It also has a library, which is filled with field guides, animal reference books, children's books, as well as natural history encyclopedia.

The Plains Conservation Center on 21901 E. Hampden Avenue is an outdoor museum that displays what life was like for pioneers and Native Americans during the 1800s. The homestead-like area covers 1,100 acres of land that has teepees, a blacksmith shop, a one-room schoolhouse, and log cabins.
