Temecula, California is well-known for being one of the jewels of the Temecula Valley. It is best known for its orchards, farmlands, and ranches. Its post office was established in 1859, and the city was incorporated on December 1, 1989.
The city of Temecula has an elevation of 1,017 feet and a total area of 37.28 square miles. In the 2010 census, it had a population of 100,097 residents. In 2016, this increased by 12.9 percent when the city was home to over 113,054 people. Temecula was part of a land grant called Rancho Temecula, which was given to an individual in 1844.
Temecula was situated near Temecula Creek. In 1857, a stagecoach line passed through Temecula Valley. Another overland mail stagecoach line passed through the city and often stopped at a store in Temecula. The city's post office was then created at the store on April 22, 1859. It was the first postal office in the Inland Southern California region.
In 1882, a railway line extended into Temecula, connecting it to National City. It wasn't long before the pioneers had built a settlement around the tracks.
