Frequently Asked Questions
Looking for a good mattress sale can be tricky. If you’re looking at brick-and-mortar locations in San Diego, always ask the sales associate when the sale ends and often the sale runs. If you’re looking online, check to see if the mattress company offers promo codes or referral codes for deeper discounts.
Generally, the best time to buy a mattress in San Diego is during one of the four major holidays: Memorial Day, Labor Day, Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and Presidents Day.
The Black Friday mattress sale is often one of the best, with most mattress companies offering a few hundred dollars off their mattress plus free pillows or sheets.
We are a little biased but we like the Amerisleep AS3. We were one of the first bed in box companies and we have worked tirelessly to provide a comfortable and supportive mattress at an affordable price.
A good mattress can only do so much. Finding the best pillow for your neck is just as important. Most people don’t know you should replace your pillow every 2-3 years. Pillows often lose their shape and support faster than a mattress.
If looking for the best pillow, consider investing in a memory foam pillow but look for one that has a ventilated airways or promotes breathability.
San Diego, CA Tidbits
San Diego, known as America's finest city has 60 beaches and a mild year-round climate. San Diego is located in the San Diego County, which is on the coast of the Pacific Ocean in Southern California. The city is more or less 120 miles south of Los Angeles and an immediate neighbor to Mexico. The estimated population of the city was 1,406,630 during the 2016 census. San Diego is known to be the birthplace of California.
One of San Diego's historic landmarks is a park. It houses more than 3,700 animals of over 650 species and subspecies. It has a wide front that runs through the park which is in the same line with several museums. San Diego is also known as California's beach city. It has 70 miles of shoreline.
A settlement was first established in what is now San Diego in 1769 by explorers from Spain. In 1821, the city of San Diego became part of Alta California, a Mexican territory. Many people settled at the foot of Presidio Hill. It is here that the town of San Diego was established. During this time, there were only 400 residents in the community. They voted to form a "pueblo." During the 1830s, the community's population declined until there were only about a hundred people left living in San Diego.
However, the city of San Diego held historical importance, especially during the time of California's independence. Mexico wanted to keep San Diego as part of its new nation, but America stressed the land's historical and cultural value and held onto it. After California was admitted into statehood in 1850, San Diego was designated as the seat of San Diego County, which was recently established. The area at the foot of Presidio Hill is now San Diego's historic park. In 1850, a new town site for San Diego was established a few miles from the original land. It had only a few houses, a pier, and a depot.
Then, in 1857, San Diego became a stop for the earliest overland stagecoach line that ran through the southern regions of the United States. This went on till 1860. After a decade, a new area called "New Town" was established near the bayside. This is now the downtown district of San Diego. Many businesses and retail stores opened shop in this area. From the late 1800s to the early 1930s, San Diego was home to many manufacturing facilities that produced planes and other equipment. In fact, this went on well into the 1940s, which helped the city's population grow.
Then, during the 1970s, the tuna fishing and tuna canning industries took off in San Diego. This made the city famous as the tuna capital of the world. The city's first tuna canning facility was opened in 1911. The tuna canneries stayed open until the 1980s. San Diego was eventually revitalized after the opening of several entertainment and recreation establishments from the end of the 20th century to the beginning of the 21st century.
