Frequently Asked Questions
Looking for a good mattress sale can be tricky. If you’re looking at brick-and-mortar locations in Indio, always ask the sales associate when the sale ends and often the sale runs. If you’re looking online, check to see if the mattress company offers promo codes or referral codes for deeper discounts.
Generally, the best time to buy a mattress in Indio is during one of the four major holidays: Memorial Day, Labor Day, Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and Presidents Day.
The Black Friday mattress sale is often one of the best, with most mattress companies offering a few hundred dollars off their mattress plus free pillows or sheets.
We are a little biased but we like the Amerisleep AS3. We were one of the first bed in box companies and we have worked tirelessly to provide a comfortable and supportive mattress at an affordable price.
A good mattress can only do so much. Finding the best pillow for your neck is just as important. Most people don’t know you should replace your pillow every 2-3 years. Pillows often lose their shape and support faster than a mattress.
If looking for the best pillow, consider investing in a memory foam pillow but look for one that has a ventilated airways or promotes breathability.
Indio, CA Tidbits
The city of Indio is located in the Coachella Valley in Riverside County in the southern region of California. Indio is also located between the Salton Sea, Coachella Valley, and Palm Springs. The area was originally inhabited by a local tribe. During the late 1700s, several explorers settled in the area. In 1876, a new settlement was established in the area as "Indian Wells". In 1877, it was located next to railroad tracks and was renamed to "Indio".
During the founding of the community, artesian wells were drilled and used for irrigation. Indio was intended to be a desert spa. It was also known for agricultural products like cotton, vegetables, grapes, citrus and dates. Supplementing the town's agriculture economy were the retirement communities, city tourism, and light manufacturing industries. There is a national park located west of Indio and another one some 25 miles east of the city. In 2000, Indio had a population of 49,116 people, and in 2010, the number rose to 76,036. By 2016, there were 88,488 people living in Indio.
The city of Indio was established out of need. In 1978, it was a railroad community that had tracks between Los Angeles, California and Yuma, Arizona. The steam locomotives needed a location where the workers could rest and refill the train engine with water. A hotel and depot station for the railroad company was built. Tt was the first permanent structure in Indio. This attracted more workers and more residents to the town.
Indio began work as the home of a date palm station in 1907. Scientists researched date cultivation and learned the methods of farmers from Northern Africa, and the Persian Gulf, where the dates are native. Through this initiative, the data that was collected increased the production of dates in Indio. These days, the region produces all of the country's 41.4-million-pound yearly output. Date production is currently more than an economic boom to Indio. The production of dates has become part of the culture in Indo. The city hosts the national date festival each year.
In the city, there are a series of 12 outdoor panels that were commissioned to pay tribute to the people of Indio and depict the history of the city. Indio is the fastest growing and largest community in the Coachella Valley and the second county seat for Riverside County. The chamber of commerce in Indio offers self-guided tours of the many murals in the city. Admission is free at the Cabazon Cultural Museum. The wild bird center in Coachella Valley is a nonprofit organization that rehabilitates sick, injured and orphaned native wild birds.
The objective of this work is to release them back into their natural habitats. The museum in Coachella Valley pays homage to the unique history of the desert and that of its early settlers who established the settlement of Indio by soldiering on through this punishing landscape. The construction of schools all came with the population growth in the 1900s. The year 1930 saw the incorporation of Indio some 54 years after the first structure was built.
Indio is considered one of the best cities to live in for new young families. It has more than 3,000 new housing units planned or being built in the city, as well as new retailers, restaurants, and hotels. There are also teen, and senior centers, great parks, exceptional schools, and nationally recognized public safety services.
