Frequently Asked Questions

When is the Best Time to Buy a Mattress?

Looking for a good mattress sale can be tricky. If you’re looking at brick-and-mortar locations in Los Angeles, always ask the sales associate when the sale ends and often the sale runs. If you’re looking online, check to see if the mattress company offers promo codes or referral codes for deeper discounts.

Generally, the best time to buy a mattress in Los Angeles is during one of the four major holidays: Memorial Day, Labor Day, Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and Presidents Day.

The Black Friday mattress sale is often one of the best, with most mattress companies offering a few hundred dollars off their mattress plus free pillows or sheets.

What is the Best Mattress of 2019?

We are a little biased but we like the Amerisleep AS3. We were one of the first bed in box companies and we have worked tirelessly to provide a comfortable and supportive mattress at an affordable price.

How Often Should You Replace Your Pillow?

A good mattress can only do so much. Finding the best pillow for your neck is just as important. Most people don’t know you should replace your pillow every 2-3 years. Pillows often lose their shape and support faster than a mattress.

If looking for the best pillow, consider investing in a memory foam pillow but look for one that has a ventilated airways or promotes breathability.

Los Angeles, CA Tidbits

The city of Los Angeles is home to Hollywood, but thousands of years ago, its first inhabitants were the Tongva and Chumash Native American tribes. Later, during the 16th century, Spanish explorers led expeditions and claimed parts of Southern California. The origin of Los Angeles likely stemmed from a community of 44 settlers who called their community "El Pueblo de Nuestra Senora la Reina de los Angeles de Porciuncula".

That settlement became a small ranch town that continued well into the 1820s when its population became 650 residents. That area is still around. In fact, it's in the historic Los Angeles Pueblo Plaza, the oldest part of the city, which now has around 3,976,322 residents. It's a far cry from the less than 50 locals during the late 1700s. Now, the oldest European settlement is a 44-acre park where you will find a plaque that commemorates the founding of Los Angeles in 1781. In After 1815, the old town was rebuilt a little bit farther away from the river to preserve the new historic village.

Los Angeles' historic district is home to the city's oldest buildings and structures that showcased the culture and identity of the European explorers, especially the Spanish settlers. In the city of Los Angeles, there are many structures that were constructed in the 19th century and have been preserved throughout the years.

These buildings are also architectural masterpieces and have served as cultural centers and community spots for many Mexican and Spanish townspeople. Many of them have also been renovated and retrofitted during the mid-1900s so that they could stand through earthquakes.

The plaza is also surrounded by old buildings like the Avila Adobe, which was constructed in 1818. It is the city's oldest surviving residential structure and is located on the historic Olvera Street. It was once the venue for many gatherings that included visitors from different walks of life, including famous American explorers.

The Olvera Street or Calle Olvera is the city's historic district. It was founded in 1781, but it only started bearing its present name in 1877. One of the most attractive features of Olvera Street is its market, which bears the original patterned pathway of the Zanja Madre, the aqueduct that brought water to Los Angeles' oldest district. The marketplace is shaded by trees and consists of stalls and booths that sell instruments, clothes, crafts, trinkets, food, and more. Because of its beautiful, vintage-style promenades, Olvera Street has been featured in several publications and magazines.

Other residential structures on Olvera Street include the Pelanconi and Sepulveda houses. The former was built during the 1850s and is the longest-standing brick house in the entire city. After it was used, it became a restaurant in 1924. The restaurant, La Golondrina, is now the oldest one of its kind in Los Angeles.

The Sepulveda House, meanwhile, was built in 1887 as a 22-room Victorian structure. The majestic building contained two commercial establishments and three residential ones. The Pico House was built in 1870 and had three stories, with almost 80 rooms all in all. When it was first constructed, it was the most elegant residential structure in southern California, what with its indoor plumbing, gas-lit chandeliers, and a grand double staircase.

Right next to it is a theater, which finished construction in 1870. It was used as a live theater for five years since its opening. It eventually shut down. Beside the theater is another historic hall that was built in 1858. After several years, the building became a pawnshop and a boarding house. It is the oldest building in the city located south of the plaza.
