Frequently Asked Questions

When is the Best Time to Buy a Mattress?

Looking for a good mattress sale can be tricky. If you’re looking at brick-and-mortar locations in Lake Elsinore, always ask the sales associate when the sale ends and often the sale runs. If you’re looking online, check to see if the mattress company offers promo codes or referral codes for deeper discounts.

Generally, the best time to buy a mattress in Lake Elsinore is during one of the four major holidays: Memorial Day, Labor Day, Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and Presidents Day.

The Black Friday mattress sale is often one of the best, with most mattress companies offering a few hundred dollars off their mattress plus free pillows or sheets.

What is the Best Mattress of 2019?

We are a little biased but we like the Amerisleep AS3. We were one of the first bed in box companies and we have worked tirelessly to provide a comfortable and supportive mattress at an affordable price.

How Often Should You Replace Your Pillow?

A good mattress can only do so much. Finding the best pillow for your neck is just as important. Most people don’t know you should replace your pillow every 2-3 years. Pillows often lose their shape and support faster than a mattress.

If looking for the best pillow, consider investing in a memory foam pillow but look for one that has a ventilated airways or promotes breathability.

Lake Elsinore, CA Tidbits

The city of Lake Elsinore was originally intended by nature to be a pleasure and health resort. Now, it is a residential community with a booming business district. The city's population was some 51,821 people, according to the census that was taken in 2010. The community is located on the northernmost shore of Lake Elsinore.

The lake is located at the lowest point within the 750-square mile watershed for the San Jacinto River. It is the largest natural freshwater lake in Southern California. During the summertime, the city residents enjoy ocean breezes that are a result the humidity of the ocean air and the intervening mountain ranges becoming much dryer than at places with a lower altitude.

The lake is surrounded by sulfurous springs, which became a popular tourist attraction. Soaking in these mineral-heavy waters was considered a balm for numerous health problems such as skin ailments and arthritis. Because of this, the community around the lake saw an increase in tourists and people who established residences in the area.

During the early 1900s, thousands of visitors came to Lake Elsinore every weekend. Motels and bathhouses were located all around the lake. However, business would evaporate whenever the water did. Wildly fluctuating water levels were all too common on the lake. Prior to the 1950s, the lake repeatedly flooded and dried up on numerous occasions.

During the mid-20th century, in order to provide more businesses around the lake, the community of Lake Elsinore purchased surplus water from Nevada and Arizona. In 1964, among other things, an improved canal was established in order to deliver the water to Lake Elsinore. The water that was bought rushed into the lakebed. Within three months, the lake was up to a relatively normal level.

Since then, the Elsinore Valley Municipal Water District and the city established an earthen dam next to the southeastern edge of the lake in order to manage the level of the water. It also added outflow and inflow channels. Water flows into the lake from the San Jacinto River and the Colorado River through the inflow channel.

In order to offset evaporation, the city purchased water that had been reclaimed from the Elsinore Valley District. Such efforts were made to keep the lake at 1,240 feet above sea level. In order to make reasonable economic development projects, which include a planned marina close to Riverside Drive, and new housing close to the foot of the lake, it was important to keep the lake level stable.

For more than 100 years, life on the only natural lake in California was considered economically progressive. The place had an abundance of fruits, vegetables, and farm land. Before the area was inhabited by American settlers, the numerous natural springs were once believed to have curative powers by the Native American inhabitants who named the lake "the Hot Springs by the Little Sea".

American trappers and Spanish ranchers joined the Native American inhabitants at the valley during the 18th century. These settlers found the lake, with its abundance of game, clear fresh water, and hot mineral springs. Early settlers saw the glistening lake some 50 miles away from Mount Baldy. Around the lake, these early pioneers established a settlement. They named it "Lake Elsinore" from a Shakespearean play.

Many scouts camped on the lake shores among the cottonwoods. Previously, Elsinore Valley and Lake Elsinore were part of San Diego County and, in 1883, was purchased by several men. In 1893, this tract of land was transferred to Riverside County.

Approximately ten miles south from Lake Elsinore is an area well-known for its good soil and farm land. It is suitable for growing deciduous fruits, alfalfa, and grain. There is a sufficient amount of water for all practical purposes. The hot springs are about three and one-half miles east of the community and are patronized quite extensively, particularly for remedial purposes. The tillable soil in that area yields good grain and would certainly grow fine eucalyptus timber.
