Frequently Asked Questions

When is the Best Time to Buy a Mattress?

Looking for a good mattress sale can be tricky. If you’re looking at brick-and-mortar locations in West Covina, always ask the sales associate when the sale ends and often the sale runs. If you’re looking online, check to see if the mattress company offers promo codes or referral codes for deeper discounts.

Generally, the best time to buy a mattress in West Covina is during one of the four major holidays: Memorial Day, Labor Day, Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and Presidents Day.

The Black Friday mattress sale is often one of the best, with most mattress companies offering a few hundred dollars off their mattress plus free pillows or sheets.

What is the Best Mattress of 2019?

We are a little biased but we like the Amerisleep AS3. We were one of the first bed in box companies and we have worked tirelessly to provide a comfortable and supportive mattress at an affordable price.

How Often Should You Replace Your Pillow?

A good mattress can only do so much. Finding the best pillow for your neck is just as important. Most people don’t know you should replace your pillow every 2-3 years. Pillows often lose their shape and support faster than a mattress.

If looking for the best pillow, consider investing in a memory foam pillow but look for one that has a ventilated airways or promotes breathability.

West Covina, CA Tidbits

Located just 19 miles from Downtown Los Angeles is the city of West Covina. Part of the Greater Los Angeles area and the San Gabriel Valley, the city has a population of more than 100,000 residents. The city was incorporated in 1923 for one major reason. The city of Covina wanted to construct a sewage farm in the city, but the residents didn't agree to it so they decided on having their city incorporated.

There were only a little more than 500 residents at that time. After West Covina's incorporation, the community continued to flourish. The residents planted and harvested walnuts and oranges. From a town of 507, the community's population grew to 769 in the 1930s. After ten years, the number of residents increased again and became 1,549.

West Covina was quickly becoming a major city with a lot of locals, but it was only from the 1950s to the 1960s that the city was considered the fastest growing one in the entire country. During this time, the city's number of residents went from just 5,000 to more than 50,000. During just the 1990 census, the number of residents was already more than 96,000.

During the middle of the 20th century, many of West Covina's local government structures were constructed. In the 1960s, the city hall and the police department were established, followed several years later by a regional commercial center, which now includes several department stores and 150 retail shops. West Covina's premier retail hub provides services and fashion products to the rest of the San Gabriel Valley.

Over at Heritage Park in West Covina, there are several old residential structures like the Taylor House. Built in 1912, this farmhouse now serves as the office of several local organizations and associations. The house was originally located on Workman Avenue. This area was originally part of the Mission San Gabriel land grant that was eventually turned into farming land. This area was called Ranch La Puente.

The area was further subdivided a few years later. In 1911, several acres of land were sold off to prominent families in the city. Aside from the old house, the Hurst Ranch Historical Center also stands in West Covina. It houses collections of photos, artifacts, memorabilia, and antiques from the 20th century life in the San Gabriel Valley. The museum also focuses on educating visitors on farming techniques and irrigation systems that were used hundreds of years ago and how they compare to the innovations now.

Just 15 minutes from the city is another historical center. The Glendora Historical Society Museum includes vintage objects, decor, furniture, and photos about the life of the early California residents from the 17th and 18th centuries. Inside the museum, there are a few mannequins dressed in authentic period clothes.

The Galster Wilderness Park has over 42 acres of green and brown land. There are many minerals and fossils buried in the earth, and it is focused on preserving California's flora and fauna, as well as the history of the area's wildlife.
