Frequently Asked Questions
Looking for a good mattress sale can be tricky. If you’re looking at brick-and-mortar locations in Palm Springs, always ask the sales associate when the sale ends and often the sale runs. If you’re looking online, check to see if the mattress company offers promo codes or referral codes for deeper discounts.
Generally, the best time to buy a mattress in Palm Springs is during one of the four major holidays: Memorial Day, Labor Day, Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and Presidents Day.
The Black Friday mattress sale is often one of the best, with most mattress companies offering a few hundred dollars off their mattress plus free pillows or sheets.
We are a little biased but we like the Amerisleep AS3. We were one of the first bed in box companies and we have worked tirelessly to provide a comfortable and supportive mattress at an affordable price.
A good mattress can only do so much. Finding the best pillow for your neck is just as important. Most people don’t know you should replace your pillow every 2-3 years. Pillows often lose their shape and support faster than a mattress.
If looking for the best pillow, consider investing in a memory foam pillow but look for one that has a ventilated airways or promotes breathability.

Palm Springs, CA Tidbits
The Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indian tribes inhabited the Coach Valley for thousands of years. These Indian tribes developed their village close to the natural hot mineral springs during the winter months. The small band of Indians relocated to the canyons in the summertime, where it was cooler as the result of the higher elevation.
The city of Palm Springs was once called "Se-Khi" by the Native American tribe that lived there. It meant "boiling water" because of the high temperature in the area. Later on, the community was called "Palmetto Springs" and "Big Palm Springs". The name "Palm Springs" was first used on maps manufactured in 1853, but it wasn't until 1885 when the name became widely used in the area.
The Agua Caliente was just one of many Cahuilla Indian bands. They existed by living off the land and being hunters and gatherers while adapting to the extremes of desert mountain winters and summers. A considerable amount of tribal life is centered on the abundant water, lush vegetation, and the region known as Indian Canyons, which is the location of the largest fan palm oasis in North America.
It was 1774 when the Spanish explorers encountered the Cahuilla Indian tribe. The Spanish expedition traveled through the region. The first wagon route was established through the San Gorgonio Pass. In order to finish the railroad to the Pacific Ocean, the United States government passed the Southern Pacific Railroad title to parcels of land that were odd-numbered in 1877 for 10 miles on both sides of the tracks running across the desert in Southern California close to Palm Springs.
The parcels of land that were even-numbered were provided free to the Agua Caliente. Several people from San Francisco traveled to Palm Springs in 1884 in an effort to find a cure for tuberculoses and other bronchial ailments. One family bought property from the Southern Pacific and constructed an aqueduct, which brought water to the Coachella Valley. The city now has 33 neighborhoods, with seven of them serving as the site of several historical landmarks and structures.
Palm Springs continues to attract more resident and visitors. There was incredible growth in the city from the 1930s to the 1940s in terms of the preservation of nature and history and the establishment of many buildings. Resorts and attractions thrived and the community's tourism industry grew. In 1938, the Museum in the Desert opened its doors. In 1939, a public library was established. During the 1950s, several hotels, inns, and hospitals were opened. Today, tourism is still the city's major industry. Palm Springs sees more than a million visitors every year.
The Palm Springs Union High School District served the city's first school in 1938. This school district was added to the Desert School District and became the Unified School District in Palm Springs. There are currently four elementary schools in the city, a private prep school, and campuses for several major colleges. The year 1938 also brought the incorporation of Palm Springs and the appointment of the first city mayor. From 3,434 residents in the 1940 census, Palm Springs now has a population of more than 47,000 people.
