Frequently Asked Questions

When is the Best Time to Buy a Mattress?

Looking for a good mattress sale can be tricky. If you’re looking at brick-and-mortar locations in Norwalk, always ask the sales associate when the sale ends and often the sale runs. If you’re looking online, check to see if the mattress company offers promo codes or referral codes for deeper discounts.

Generally, the best time to buy a mattress in Norwalk is during one of the four major holidays: Memorial Day, Labor Day, Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and Presidents Day.

The Black Friday mattress sale is often one of the best, with most mattress companies offering a few hundred dollars off their mattress plus free pillows or sheets.

What is the Best Mattress of 2019?

We are a little biased but we like the Amerisleep AS3. We were one of the first bed in box companies and we have worked tirelessly to provide a comfortable and supportive mattress at an affordable price.

How Often Should You Replace Your Pillow?

A good mattress can only do so much. Finding the best pillow for your neck is just as important. Most people don’t know you should replace your pillow every 2-3 years. Pillows often lose their shape and support faster than a mattress.

If looking for the best pillow, consider investing in a memory foam pillow but look for one that has a ventilated airways or promotes breathability.

Norwalk, CA Tidbits

Norwalk, California is the 58th most populous city in the entire state, with 107,096 residents in 2014. It is located in Los Angeles County and is just a few miles from the downtown area of the city of Los Angeles. It also has several sister cities in Mexico.

The first known inhabitants of what would become Norwalk in the future were the Native American people, the Shoshonean. They hunted squirrels, birds, and rabbits, and harvested berries, acorns, and sage, among others. When the area was claimed by Spain, settlers arrived in the 1700s. The Norwalk area was part of the land grant that was given to a Spanish soldier.

In the early 1800s, the land area, Rancho Los Nietos, was divided and sold off to the people of the United States of America. Several people bought acres of the ranch land. One community grew from the Rancho. It was called the "Heart of the Valleys" or Corazon de los Valles and it had 463 acres of land.

During the late 1800s when railroad companies were making their way through California, 23 acres of the Heart of the Valleys were sold for the railway's right-of-way. According to the railway agreement, there would be a train station established in another designated area. This new town became known as "Norwalk" in 1874. The name came from "North walk" because of the town's location.

The Anaheim Branch Railroad passed through the area and, by the 1880s, Norwalk was a popular destination for people who wanted to visit the countryside. The rest of Norwalk was still underdeveloped and there weren't many establishments in the area, but it did draw many tourists and visitors who wanted to visit this side of the country.

Before the turn of the 20th century, many prominent families settled in Norwalk. There was already a school in the area, as well as a cheese factory, which became Norwalk's first major business industry. Because of this, the town became known as a dairy center. It was also home to some of the biggest and most successful beet farms in the entire region.

There are two historical houses in the city, and they serve as museums that display collections of artifacts about Norwalk's history and its prominent families. Many of the old homes in Norwalk were constructed during the 1890s. One such house was originally located on a ranch that had 120 acres. This ranch had groves and rows of grapes, avocados, oranges, and more. After several years, some parts of the land were sold off to make way for new housing developments. The only structures left behind were the main house and the water tower.

The design and ornaments around the house have been preserved. Even the water tower was not changed and still retains its original structure and style. The only thing added were stairs in 1930. Inside the house is an array of memorabilia, furniture, and decor that belonged to the early settlers of Norwalk.

Another museum was a house that was built in 1870. Originally, the house was located on a sycamore grove where town meetings were held, but it was later moved to its current location so that it could be preserved and used as a museum. Inside, there are several heirlooms, family memorabilia, and other artifacts that were used by Norwalk's early governing council.

Norwalk was incorporated as a city in 1957. From just 50 families during the 1900s, the city is now home to more than a hundred thousand residents. The school children go to schools served by the Norwalk-La Miranda Unified School District and the Little Lake City School District. Some schools, however, are run by the ABC Unified School District and the Whittier Union High School. The city is also home to Cerritos College, a community college that offers certificates in 87 academic programs. More than 1,200 students graduate at the school every year.
