Frequently Asked Questions

When is the Best Time to Buy a Mattress?

Looking for a good mattress sale can be tricky. If you’re looking at brick-and-mortar locations in Monterey Park, always ask the sales associate when the sale ends and often the sale runs. If you’re looking online, check to see if the mattress company offers promo codes or referral codes for deeper discounts.

Generally, the best time to buy a mattress in Monterey Park is during one of the four major holidays: Memorial Day, Labor Day, Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and Presidents Day.

The Black Friday mattress sale is often one of the best, with most mattress companies offering a few hundred dollars off their mattress plus free pillows or sheets.

What is the Best Mattress of 2019?

We are a little biased but we like the Amerisleep AS3. We were one of the first bed in box companies and we have worked tirelessly to provide a comfortable and supportive mattress at an affordable price.

How Often Should You Replace Your Pillow?

A good mattress can only do so much. Finding the best pillow for your neck is just as important. Most people don’t know you should replace your pillow every 2-3 years. Pillows often lose their shape and support faster than a mattress.

If looking for the best pillow, consider investing in a memory foam pillow but look for one that has a ventilated airways or promotes breathability.

Monterey Park, CA Tidbits

One of Los Angeles County's most prominent suburbs is the city of Monterey Park, a hillside community that is known for its large Chinese American population and for being one of the best places to live in America, according to Money magazine's 2017 survey.

The city of Monterey Park was once home to the Tongva, a Native American group that was later called "Gabrielino" by the European explorers who came to the area in the early 19th century.

This area later became part of the Rancho San Antonio land grant. During the 1860s, several European settlers arrived in the area. Present-day Monterey Park grew out of a purchased land of 5,000 acres. In the past, this place saw old ranch houses and farm lands. Now, it is the location of Garfield Avenue.

United States army officials and couriers also took note of the area since some of the mail riders passed through the Monterey Pass to get to their stations. Eventually, residential structures and farm houses were established. These drew water from the nearby Hondo River. Later on, a dam was constructed in the area. After a few years, parcels of land were sold to people coming from other states. This paved the way for more people to reside in what would soon be Monterey Park. This area is now called Garvey Ranch Park and Monterey Pass is now Garvey Avenue.

In 1916, nearby cities wanted to establish a sewage treatment facility in town. The residents refused and later decided to push for incorporation. That same year, the city was incorporated as "Monterey Park", which was taken from Monterey Hills, a nearby range whose name appeared on an old government map. Four years later, Asian settlers arrived in the area to plant potatoes and flowers. They also paved a pass that would make shipping to Los Angeles easier. This trail was later called Coyote Pass.

One of Monterey Park's greatest achievements was the invention of the bag of potato chips, which came to be in 1926. This made it easier for the potato growers to ship their products to retailers. There were also annexations in the area, which propelled the city's progress. The 1970s brought the affluent Asian Americans to the San Gabriel Valley, where they eventually settled in Monterey Park.

In the 1980s, the city was called "Little Taipei" because of the large number of Chinese American residents. There were also several Chinese businesses from Los Angeles that opened branches in Monterey Park. Throughout the city, aside from English, Cantonese and Mandarin are some of its widely spoken languages.

The city's Historical Museum is operated by the Monterey Park Historical Society and is located on 781 S. Orange Avenue. The city has 14 parks, some of which have ties to the past. The five-acre Sequoia Park has all the usual features of a park, with a softball field and playground, but it also has a Japanese Zen garden, which is a nod to the city's history. It is because of the influx of Asian American residents that Monterey Park was able to achieve a population of more than 60,000 people.
