Frequently Asked Questions
Looking for a good mattress sale can be tricky. If you’re looking at brick-and-mortar locations in El Monte, always ask the sales associate when the sale ends and often the sale runs. If you’re looking online, check to see if the mattress company offers promo codes or referral codes for deeper discounts.
Generally, the best time to buy a mattress in El Monte is during one of the four major holidays: Memorial Day, Labor Day, Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and Presidents Day.
The Black Friday mattress sale is often one of the best, with most mattress companies offering a few hundred dollars off their mattress plus free pillows or sheets.
We are a little biased but we like the Amerisleep AS3. We were one of the first bed in box companies and we have worked tirelessly to provide a comfortable and supportive mattress at an affordable price.
A good mattress can only do so much. Finding the best pillow for your neck is just as important. Most people don’t know you should replace your pillow every 2-3 years. Pillows often lose their shape and support faster than a mattress.
If looking for the best pillow, consider investing in a memory foam pillow but look for one that has a ventilated airways or promotes breathability.

El Monte, CA Tidbits
With 113,475 residents during the 2010 census, El Monte was considered the 51st largest city in California. The city's slogan is "Welcome to Friendly El Monte" and it is located in the San Gabriel Valley in the Los Angeles County. It is situated east of the city of Los Angeles and is known as the "End of the Santa Fe Trail".
The first explorers to pass through the area were Spaniards on an expedition to explore the Americas. They came through between the 1770s to the 1830s. The land soon became part of the Rancho La Puente. The Workman-Rowland Party used the Old Spanish Trail in 1841 to arrive at El Pueblo de Nuestra Senora la Reina de los Angeles.
Later on, during the late 1840s, people from Missouri, Texas, and Arkansas moved to California to find gold. Many of those people decided to establish families in El Monte. A group eventually dubbed the area "El Monte", which the American settlers thought meant "the mount" or "the mountain" in modern interpretation.
El Monte doesn't have any mountains, but historians reported that word comes from an archaic Spanish word that meant "the woods". This fittingly described the geographical landscape of the city since El Monte was full of grapevines, willows, cattails, and more. It was a natural paradise filled with vegetation and sturdy trees. Located between two rivers, El Monte was a prime piece of land for those who wanted to start a thriving community.
During the 1850s, the community changed the town's name to "Lexington", but the residents began calling it "El Monte" again. In 1858, a stagecoach stop, the Monte Station, was constructed in town. Years later, in 1873, the Southern Pacific established a railroad, which contributed to El Monte's economic growth. Finally, the town was incorporated in 1912.
El Monte is easily accessible through two major freeways, Interstate 605 and Interstate 10. This is also why El Monte, California is a hub of commercial and economic activity. It is the ninth largest city in Los Angeles County, with more than 120,000 people currently in residence. Because the city has a Foreign Trade Zone, it attracts local and international businesses. It is even home to some of the biggest auto dealers in the entire United States.
On 3150 Tyler Avenue stands the El Monte Historical Museum. Because the city is the oldest town in the San Gabriel Valley, it also has many discovered artifacts and vintage items preserved from before the turn of the century. The museum houses period clothing and furniture from as early as the 18th century, photographs and memorabilia from the 19th century, and a replica of a 1900s schoolroom. Also, since the city is home to large auto dealers, there are old cars and other near-ancient vehicles in pristine condition. There are also toys from the beginning of the 1800s like rag dolls and teddy bears, as well as markers from structures that were built in the 1880s.
One of the oldest El Monte houses is the Osmond Ranch House, which was built during the 1890s. It originally stood in South El Monte but was later moved to the Santa Fe Trail Historic Park during the 1990s. The city of El Monte has its share of recreational centers and beautiful natural landscapes. The local aquatic center offers indoor and outdoor pool features throughout the year. Baldwin Mini Park is a small one, with only 0.5 acres of land, but it already has a playground, a basketball court, a picnic area with benches, and public restrooms.
