Frequently Asked Questions

When is the Best Time to Buy a Mattress?

Looking for a good mattress sale can be tricky. If you’re looking at brick-and-mortar locations in Costa Mesa, always ask the sales associate when the sale ends and often the sale runs. If you’re looking online, check to see if the mattress company offers promo codes or referral codes for deeper discounts.

Generally, the best time to buy a mattress in Costa Mesa is during one of the four major holidays: Memorial Day, Labor Day, Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and Presidents Day.

The Black Friday mattress sale is often one of the best, with most mattress companies offering a few hundred dollars off their mattress plus free pillows or sheets.

What is the Best Mattress of 2019?

We are a little biased but we like the Amerisleep AS3. We were one of the first bed in box companies and we have worked tirelessly to provide a comfortable and supportive mattress at an affordable price.

How Often Should You Replace Your Pillow?

A good mattress can only do so much. Finding the best pillow for your neck is just as important. Most people don’t know you should replace your pillow every 2-3 years. Pillows often lose their shape and support faster than a mattress.

If looking for the best pillow, consider investing in a memory foam pillow but look for one that has a ventilated airways or promotes breathability.

Costa Mesa, CA Tidbits

In 1801, the Rancho San Antonio was among the land grants given to several high-ranking Spanish officials. This ranch had been sold off and is now composed of the modern cities of Olive, Newport Beach, Orange, Tustin, Santa Ana, Villa Park, and Costa Mesa.

Near Santa Ana and Newport Beach, there was a small community called "Harper", named after a local rancher. Coincidentally, during this time, there was another community called "Harperville". The residents realized they wanted a new name for their town. A contest was held, with a grand prize of $25. The winner had suggested the name "Costa Mesa".

And so, in 1920, the town changed its name to "Costa Mesa", which meant "coast tableland". The name describes the town's geographic location, considering the landscape is like that of a plateau situated by the coast. It was incorporated in 1953 when it was just a small farming community with only 16,840 residents. Now, it is a suburban city with a population of 112,000. This was a huge rise from the 2010 size when the city only had 109,960 residents.

The city of Costa Mesa is located just 35 miles from the city of Los Angeles. It is also just a mile from the Pacific Ocean. Several beautiful beaches are just a few miles away like the ones on Laguna Beach, which sees more than three million visitors every year. Because it is popular, the local government had constructed several facilities on the beach. There are several basketball courts, volleyball courts, and a boardwalk for watching the sunset. Wood's Cove and Lovers' Cove are popular places for scuba-diving and surfing.

Costa Mesa also has dozens of natural parks. The Costa Mesa Bark Park is a 2-acre park for dogs who want to run around unleashed. During summer, there are up to 200 dog owners and their canines playing in the park, which has drinking fountains for dogs and humans, picnic benches, dog waste bags, and restrooms.

This park is also located on the property of TeWinkle Park, a 49-acre park that has 30 picnic tables, five grills, and several ramadas. It also has baseball and softball fields, a dozen tennis courts, and an amphitheater, but it's most popular feature is a lake with waterfalls.

The 200-acre Talbot Regional Park has a scenic landscape of trees, cool shade, and lush green grass. It functions as a wildlife refuge and botanical garden. It has six sections, categorized by the plants that grew along the Santa Ana River. The six zones also vary by vegetation and situation, which aims to replicate the plant communities of Costa Mesa, from prehistoric to modern times.

The regional park also has nine hiking and cycling trails that stretch to more than three miles. The Nature Center is connected to the Pacific Ocean through the Santa Ana River Bicycle Trail, which leads to the Pacific Ocean. There are many birds in the area like the blue heron, mallard ducks, and snowy egrets, among others. The Orange County Great Park is also just a few minutes south of Costa Mesa. The 1,300-acre park is a recreation center, heritage landmark, and preserve rolled into one metropolitan park.
