Frequently Asked Questions
Looking for a good mattress sale can be tricky. If you’re looking at brick-and-mortar locations in Compton, always ask the sales associate when the sale ends and often the sale runs. If you’re looking online, check to see if the mattress company offers promo codes or referral codes for deeper discounts.
Generally, the best time to buy a mattress in Compton is during one of the four major holidays: Memorial Day, Labor Day, Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and Presidents Day.
The Black Friday mattress sale is often one of the best, with most mattress companies offering a few hundred dollars off their mattress plus free pillows or sheets.
We are a little biased but we like the Amerisleep AS3. We were one of the first bed in box companies and we have worked tirelessly to provide a comfortable and supportive mattress at an affordable price.
A good mattress can only do so much. Finding the best pillow for your neck is just as important. Most people don’t know you should replace your pillow every 2-3 years. Pillows often lose their shape and support faster than a mattress.
If looking for the best pillow, consider investing in a memory foam pillow but look for one that has a ventilated airways or promotes breathability.

Compton, CA Tidbits
Compton, California is better known as "Hub City" because of its geographical location. It is bordered by bustling cities and stands in the middle of Los Angeles County. Compton has a generally young populace, with the average age of its residents being around 25, compared to the national average of 35 years old.
The city's land came from a 75,000-acre tract of land called Rancho San Pedro, which was claimed by the Spanish government. After 1848, many of the land grants were claimed by new American settlers. Compton's early community was filled with over 30 Americans who originally came from Stockton, California. They established a community and called it "Gibsonville". Later on, however, it was called "Comptonville".
There were some issues with the name since there was another city in Yuba County that was called Comptonville. So, the residents shortened their community's name to "Compton". In 1888, when the town only had 500 residents, it was incorporated. During the 1920s, many establishments were founded and many buildings were constructed in Compton like the Compton Junior College and a local airport, among others.
The 1940s brought more residents into the area, particularly people from southern states. Although the city is now filled with modern technological advances and prime commercial estates, it still has several acres dedicated to farming. During the 1950s to the 70s, more residential structures were constructed.
Eventually, the Centennial High School was opened, and years down the line, Compton became the city with the largest number of African American residents. In the latter part of the 20th century, Compton's local council revitalized the town with restorations and the establishments of inns, hotels, convention centers, and a new city hall at 205 South Willowbrook Avenue.
The city of Compton has several historic landmarks and structures like the Heritage House, which was built in 1869. It is a designated State Historic Landmark and is the oldest residential structure in the city. Another vital part of the city's past is the Eagle Tree on the corner of the Poppy Street and Short Avenue. Back in 1858, it marked the boundary of the Rancho San Pedro farmland. A marker was placed on it in 1947.
Compton has 10.2 square miles of land and it also has a very multicultural community. During the 2000 census, the city had 37,263 African American residents, making them the biggest ethnic group in Compton. The other ethnicities represented in the city are Latin American and Pacific Islander. In 2010, there were 96,455 residents living in Compton. Six years after, the city estimates that there are 97,550 people calling Compton home.
One of the historic structures in the city is the Dominguez Rancho Adobe Museum, which is one of California's State Historic Landmark. It contains artifacts, decor, and furniture from the 18th century when the house was constructed. The city has five main parks and several neighborhood parks. It also has a golf course and a local swimming pool.
The Compton Unified School District serves the schools in the city, and it is also a participant of the FOCUS Program of the University California, Irvine. The district manages more than thirty basic education schools and one adult school, as well as five schools for alternative learning.
