Frequently Asked Questions

When is the Best Time to Buy a Mattress?

Looking for a good mattress sale can be tricky. If you’re looking at brick-and-mortar locations in Alhambra, always ask the sales associate when the sale ends and often the sale runs. If you’re looking online, check to see if the mattress company offers promo codes or referral codes for deeper discounts.

Generally, the best time to buy a mattress in Alhambra is during one of the four major holidays: Memorial Day, Labor Day, Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and Presidents Day.

The Black Friday mattress sale is often one of the best, with most mattress companies offering a few hundred dollars off their mattress plus free pillows or sheets.

What is the Best Mattress of 2019?

We are a little biased but we like the Amerisleep AS3. We were one of the first bed in box companies and we have worked tirelessly to provide a comfortable and supportive mattress at an affordable price.

How Often Should You Replace Your Pillow?

A good mattress can only do so much. Finding the best pillow for your neck is just as important. Most people don’t know you should replace your pillow every 2-3 years. Pillows often lose their shape and support faster than a mattress.

If looking for the best pillow, consider investing in a memory foam pillow but look for one that has a ventilated airways or promotes breathability.

Alhambra, CA Tidbits

The Gateway to the San Gabriel Valley region of Los Angeles County is a city named Alhambra. It is a community that has a land area of 7.6 square miles and just eight miles from the central business district of Los Angeles, CA. Aside from Los Angeles, other nearby cities include South Pasadena on the northwest, San Marino on the north, San Gabriel on the east, and Monterey Park towards the south.

Prior its incorporation, the city of Alhambra started out as a suburb of Los Angeles. It only got incorporated during the 1900s and the city was named after a book called "Tales of the Alhambra". Alhambra's roots began way back even before its incorporation. The Tongva, a Native American people, were the ones who inhabited the place before the Spanish settlers arrived. On September 8, 1771, Alhambra was a portion of a land grant given by the Spanish government.

The land grant was then transferred to the authorities of the United States of America. It was later developed, but it stayed unincorporated throughout the mid-19th century. In 1898, Alhambra High School became Alhambra's first public high school. Five years after, Alhambra was officially incorporated as a city.

Because plenty of its homes have significant importance, Alhambra was promoted as a "City of Homes". The historical houses have different architectural styles such as Spanish colonial, Spanish Mediterranean, Craftsman, and Italian. There are also several bungalow-style houses in the area. The city dubbed twenty six residential areas as a historic zone, including the Alhambra Airport's former landing quarters, the space occupied by Emery Park area, the Bean Tract home, and the Midwick Tract.

Located at the intersection of Main and Garfield is the city's main business district. It has been Alhambra's center of commerce since the year 1895. The busy district got an upgrade and the renovations made it the go-to place in the San Gabriel Valley by the 1950s. The restoration of the Main Street has prompted the rise of several entertainment, retail, and dining establishments.

New immigrants began to flock the city in the 1950s. It started with the Italians. The Mexicans followed, and finally, the Chinese. Because of this development, a Chinese business district on Valley Boulevard flourished. The Valley Boulevard is not only limited to Chinese stalls, restaurants, and supermarkets, but the area also has medical offices, realtors, and it became a hub for several Asian-owned banks.

A historic theater in the district is another prominent establishment located at the corner of Valley Boulevard and Garfield Avenue. It was formerly a vaudeville setting and it even ran Chinese-language films before officially closing its doors in 2001. Developers altered the crumbling building and made it into a lively commercial hub filled with Chinese stores and eateries. The most notable residence in Alhambra was built in 1926, which is the Pyrenees Castle.

Now, more than half of Alhambra's racial makeup is composed of Asians. In fact, Alhambra is one of the ten cities in the Los Angeles County with the biggest number of Asian residents alongside the cities of Monterey Park, Cerritos, Walnut, San Gabriel, and others. There are also plenty of residential buildings, rental apartments, and condominiums in the downtown area of Alhambra. Their local newspaper is the San Gabriel Valley Tribune and the local community paper is Around Alhambra. According to a 2010 census report, Alhambra had about 83,089 residents and that there were around 10,887.4 people per square mile.

Alhambra received numerous awards because it was considered one of the cities that were most welcoming to new visitors, businesses, and families. It was, in fact, recognized as part of the top 100 best places to live, according to a website that evaluates the quality of America's cities. It also gained an award of the most business-friendly city in Los Angeles County. The city provides noteworthy public services in terms of housing, business, and employment, according to the public-benefit organization, Los Angeles County Economic Development Corporation (LAEDC).
