Tencel Sheets® are made of a very breathable weave of sustainable materials. This allows you to sleep without fear of your sheets making you sweat.
Tencel fabric tends to be softer than cotton. This softness is because it has a very smooth surface up close. This not only feels good, but also makes it very non-irritating even to sensitive skin. It counters some of the common drawbacks of cotton bedsheets, namely their tendency to be scratchy and rustle noisily.

Using Tencel® fabric supports our sustainable mission. Tencel® comes from 100% Eucalyptus tree cellulose fiber. And the trees come from sustainable farms. The farmers do not use pesticides, irrigation, or genetic manipulation. We chose Tencel® because it is cleaner and better for the planet than traditional fabrics.

Tencel® is an all-natural (not synthetic) fabric. Tencel® fibers are made and spun from sustainably sourced natural raw material wood.
Tencel® is not toxic, and it is among the most eco-friendly fabrics in the world.
Tencel requires less energy, land, and water to make than cotton. In fact, industrially farmed cotton can use up to 20 times more water than Tencel®. And because Tencel is an all-natural material, it’s also biodegradable.
Tencel® comes from sustainably sourced natural raw material wood. The trees used are sustainable, regenerate quickly, and grow without the use of herbicides or pesticides. Plus the trees for our Tencel® fabric come from forests certified by the Forest Stewardship Council and PEFC. So they are managed using the latest sustainability practices.
Making Tencel® is also a “closed-loop” process. That means the process water and 99.6% of the oil-based solvents that turn the raw material wood into a fiber are recycled and used again. So creating Tencel® fabric produces virtually no waste. That’s why Tencel® won the prestigious “technology award for sustainable development” at the EU’s European Awards for the Environment. And the process to produce Tencel® has also been granted over 100 patents around the globe.
Yes, in virtually every category, Tencel® is better than cotton, silk, and linen.
Tencel® is cooler than linen, is softer than silk, and can absorb 70% more moisture than cotton. That way, you sleep dry and in complete comfort.
Tencel® is also breathable and moisture-wicking. It quickly releases any moisture it absorbs into the air. It also prevents bacterial growth naturally — without needing to add any harmful chemicals featured in other fabrics. That’s because in a dry environment, it’s nearly impossible for bacteria to grow.
Compared to cotton, Tencel® is also better for the planet. Conventional cotton production can use up to 2,000 chemicals during the entire manufacturing lifecycle. But Tencel® is one of the world’s most eco-friendly fabrics. (For more details, see the previous question.)
No, Tencel’s “cellulose” design is naturally wrinkle-resistant. This allows you to enjoy the feeling of soft, smooth sheets night after night.
No, Tencel is breathable and moisture-wicking. It pulls moisture and warm air away from your body, so you stay cool and comfortable all night.
Tencel® is a proprietary fabric that requires a more sophisticated manufacturing process than cotton. This increases the cost of the material.
But when you look at all the advantages of Tencel®, most people find that it’s more than worth the additional investment. After all, sleep is arguably the most important thing you can do for your health. It affects everything including your weight, heart health, brain function, and memory. And our premium Tencel® sheets are softer, more comfortable, and more breathable than cotton.
It’s easy to care for Amerisleep Tencel® sheets. You can wash them in a machine on either the cold or warm cycle. And you can tumble dry them on a low-heat setting.
To reduce wrinkles, do not dry your Tencel® sheets in an over-full dryer. Also, remove the sheets promptly after drying, and put them on the bed while they’re still warm.
All Amerisleep sheet sets use standard bedding industry dimensions. That means our sheets will fit any standard-size mattress. But to be certain, you should compare the size of your mattress to the size of our sheets (listed above). Our sheets are also designed to work with mattresses up to 18 inches deep.
To see our Tencel® sheets in person, you can visit one of our Amerisleep showrooms.
Our Amerisleep Sheets do not qualify for the 100-night sleep trial so they are non-returnable. We do provide free shipping and a 1-year warranty with all sheet sets.
