Although memory foam is popular, a lot of memory foams trap heat and cause uncomfortable sleep at night. As a result, many hot sleepers tend to avoid foam mattresses. We wanted to put an end to hot foam and create a more breathable option, so sleepers can enjoy the benefits of foam without waking up in a pool of sweat. Our Bio-Pur® foam is plant-based and designed to be ultra-porous, so it doesn’t contain as many petrochemicals or retain heat as easily. As a result of its eco-conscious design, Bio-Pur® is light, bouncy, and breathable.

We design our memory foam mattresses (and hybrids, too) with the highest-quality materials we can source and back them with a 20-year warranty to guarantee your mattress will last for decades. However, it’s important that you maintain your mattress by using a mattress protector, using it on top of a platform, slatted, or adjustable bed, rotating it every 3-6 months, and changing your bed sheets regularly.

Memory foam mattresses are sold in a variety of thickness options, from a thin 6 inches to a tall 15 inches. Mattress thickness plays into quality and feel, as thinner mattresses tend to wear down sooner and feel firmer.

We recommend buying a memory foam mattress at least 10 inches thick; avoid beds thinner than 9 inches or thicker than 16 inches—ultra-thick beds usually contain unnecessary layers and excess materials while thin beds aren’t very long-lasting.

Our Amerisleep memory foam mattresses range in thickness from 10 inches to 14 inches, so they fall right in the sweet spot in terms of mattress height.

Our Amerisleep platform bed does not have a spot to actually attach a headboard, but you can still pair one of our foundations with a headboard. There are two ways to do this

1. Remove the legs of the foundation and place the foundation within an existing bed frame (like a box spring).
2. Stand the head frame upright behind the foundation and against the wall, then push the foundation back against the bottom of the headboard to keep it propped in place.

To maintain your mattress, we suggest rotating it 180 degrees every few months to even out wear and tear, and cleaning it more frequently to keep it fresh and dust-mite free. The cover of our mattresses easily unzips and can be machine-washed, too! Of course, we suggest a mattress protector to shield your bed from potential damage—and our Amerisleep Waterproof Mattress Protector fits like a fitted sheet and does just that.

The platform bed doesn’t need much to stay sturdy, we just suggest vacuuming its surface every now and then to suck up accumulated dirt, skin, dust, and other grime; this can be done at the same time you’re cleaning and deodorizing your mattress.

When shopping mattresses, you’ll probably see foams (like ours) advertised as CertiPUR-US® certified; but with the influx of “safe” certifications out there today, it can be hard to discern what’s legit and what isn’t. Rest assured, CertiPUR-US® is a common, reliable, third-party certification that guarantees products (such as foam in mattresses) are made without harmful chemicals (like formaldehyde and phthalates), heavy metals (like lead and mercury), and PBDE flame retardants and other questionable fire barriers.

A CertiPUR-US® seal of approval also certifies the bed is low in volatile organic compounds (VOCs), meaning the mattress is less likely to have that “chemical-like” scent upon unboxing.
