The research analyzed the cost of a one night stay in nine ‘Wilderness Quiet Parks’, which have been chosen by Quiet Parks International for their healthy balance of bioacoustic activity with long noise-free intervals. Located in the east of Poland, Bialowieza forest is the remaining section of a once vast primeval forest in Europe. A three-bedroom residential home is available to rent for an average of $83 a night. To get even closer to nature, camping there is a cost of about $11 for a pitch.

The average cost for a night's sleep in one of the world's quietest locations is $148.95
The most expensive American location for a truly quiet night’s sleep is in Maui, Hawaii in the Haleakala National Park, home to the volcano of the same name. The cost of a quiet night’s sleep on the volcanic island averages at $233.04, and accommodation, apart from camping, is closer to the outskirts of the national park and coast of the island.
Namibrand Nature Reserve in Namibia is the only African quiet park, at an average cost of $161.80 per night. Whereas hotels and campsites are expensive there, vacation rental properties vary from nearby residential homes to private rooms at an average of $85.
To visit the Zabalo River in Ecuador, even when considering that legal wild camping is a popular option, with minimal paid campsites, the average stay calculates to be the most expensive. The cost of official hotels is over $100 more than that of North America. It costs an average of $236.25 to stay at the first officially awarded Wilderness Quiet Park.
Research Methodology
THE initial LIST of the world’s quietest placed was compiled from EIGHT UPCOMING WILDERNESS QUIET PARKS AND THE ONE AWARDED WILDERNESS QUIET PARK OUTLINED BY QUIET PARKS INTERNATIONAL.
Quiet Parks International is a non-profit committed to saving quiet for the benefit of all life. It selects Wilderness Quiet Parks through a multi-stage process based on designated natural areas such as UNESCO World Heritage Sites, and National Parks. The areas are narrowed down further by eliminating light polluted areas, those near frequent transport routes, and those with noisy land issues such as agriculture, mineral extractions or commercial developments.
For each site, an average cost of nearby hotels, vacation rental properties and campsites were calculated using publicly available data from hotel and travel comparison sites, Airbnb, and information from the sites’ own websites.
The costs and fees for each type of accommodation were all converted to US Dollars (if necessary). These results were then averaged to give a final figure, for the average cost of a night’s sleep in each of the nine locations.
The locations were then ranked from lowest to highest average cost, to reveal the place offering the cheapest quiet night’s sleep on the planet.
